Expedition

  • 46,000 miles
I have a 2006 Ford Expedition and my wife almost lost control and hit a car when the brakes went to the floor. The vehicle has had "spongy brakes" since I bought it and had it to the dealer twice. There is a tsb to replace the front caliper/rotor and pads and Ford did this but it still feels spongy and is now leaking fluid. This has been an issue on many Expedition and should have been a recall rather than a tsb. This is an incredibly dangerous situation when the brakes fail. I know I have had instances where I literally need to stand on the brakes to get the vehicle to stop.

Our 2006 Ford Expedition only had 35,490 miles, and would start up with a rattle. The air was ok, but it stopped working over the weekend and the start up rattle in the morning went away. We took it to Ford, as we had 19 days left on the manufacture warranty, and it needed a new compressor assembly and manifold and tube assembly, suction and discharge. Now our air is just like new, no start up rattle. I searched the internet and seems many people with this rattle, have been told it's just something that the Ford Expedition does. We noticed die in the discharge that came from the compressor when it failed, like someone had looked at this before and just patched it. We bought it from carmax Jan 2009. I think a recall needs to take place for all 2006 Ford Expedition owners can get their ac compressor and manifold and tube replaced.

Purchased vehicle in January 2006, brand new from the dealer. Shortly thereafter, the back window was leaking. Had the back window repaired, still leaks. The seal on both the driver and passenger's front windows were missing. Took the vehicle back 3 times before this was fixed. After that, the engine began making a loud grinding noise. Vehicle has been back in the shop at least 3 times, one time they kept it for a week, claim they can not duplicate. They then decided it was the A/C compressor and we should have the A/C off when starting the vehicle. Tried it, does not work. Now that the vehicle is out of warranty, it is making the loud grinding noise even more. At one point, we were told by a salesman that we should just call roadside assistance if we break down while on vacation. Just what we wanted was to have our vacation ruined by a Ford screw up. The dealer won't acknowledge that there is a problem and won't fix it. On top of that the dvd entertainment system that came with the vehicle won't stay closed, the cover over the motor for the third seat has come detached and doesn't fold up right and the air conditioner is warm when sitting still. All problems that a major corporation should not have on a vehicle that has been on the market for several years. Would really like all the problems completely fixed or a replacement. Driver's side airbag did not deploy when had very hard frontal impact either.

Problem: Ford dvd entertainment system and the Ford dealer installed satellite radio do not work with the dual play (back seat should be able to watch a movie while front seat gets to listen to satellite radio). We found out through our 2 weeks of (the phone run around) investigation that this problem has been on going for 2 years. We also found out that everything Ford has with dual play the dvd/cd factory entertainment doesn't work with satellite radio, navigation system, ipod interface ect. Ford has told us that it is our problem because in their owners manual it doesn't say they work together"?? why then is it an option??? Ford doesn't want to help us, they don't want to purchase back the dvd player. Why is it big companies can take advantage of us blue collar hard working folks? what does an average person do, I purchased a $50,000 vehicle that is an investment and Ford ignores us. Do you know where I can get helped" thank you very much trena anderson gillette, Wyoming.
