paint coming off

I talked Ford several times about the paint bubbling and coming off my 2006 Expedition rear tailgate. They vehicle is out of warranty and will not cover the cost of repair. With all the other complaint have read out there I think Ford should step up and do a recall on this paint problem. Paying nearly $50,000 for this vehicle I think they at least owe it to me to cover the cost of the repairs.

paint coming off paint coming off

I had noticed bubbling under the paint in patches on the lift-gate and minor peeling on the hood of my 2006 Expedition Eddie Bauer about a year or so ago. It has worsened since then and now a large patch of paint has peeled off the lift-gate.

At the time of purchase, I had bought an additional polyurethane coating for my vehicle that I was told would protect it from the elements, tree sap and bird droppings. As such I was not expecting to have corrosion problems at this point in the life of the vehicle that I have meticulously maintained.

This will be expensive to repair and devalues the vehicle in the eyes of the owner and potential buyers. If Ford knew about this problem as suggested, then they should be held accountable.

Every aluminum (Top Gear taught me that!) panel is losing paint due to corrosion. I have had significantly reduced trade value at local Ford center due to the very visible problem that this is. Ford certainly was aware of this problem that they would cover under the 3/36 due to iron (?) contamination in the aluminum panels at production. That TSB was released years ago: still seeing 2009 and newer Expeditions having the same exact problems. Maybe Ford should make their next F150 out of wood or plastic instead of aluminum for the weight saving they need for mileage, because they certainly haven't done a very good job with the existing aluminum panels on todays vehicles. Boycott the new F150 anyone?!!?
