The paint on the back hatch and front of the hood is just peeling off and there is a white chalky substance between the paint and body. Like oxidation. It looks horrible.

I called Ford on this problem the first time on 9/10/10, then called 2 more times ( 9/24/10 and 3/2/11). I also went to 3 different dealerships with no help. The paint is bubbling all over the tailgate, it looks like hell. The last time that I called, the lady told me that they couldn't do anything for me until it rusted a hole in it. I told her that this was my 18th new Ford vehicle and if they could not help me, then it will be my last. She said that their was nothing she could until it rusted a hole in it. I will not buy another Ford until they fix it.

I've called Ford several times with no luck. I was basically told it's not Ford's problem and they have no knowledge of the problem. I hate rich companies that get over on the little guy just to make a profit. I don't have the money to fix this on my own. This will most likely be my last vehicle due to my health and I need it to last.
I just don't understand why Ford hates their customers after they buy their vehicle. I know if I could I would never buy another one from them.
I have been thinking of a Class Action Suit. I hate to waste time but we need to teach them a lesson and to be more supportive towards their customers and be helpful.

I'm posting this on behalf of my parents who bought the Ford Expedition King Ranch in 2006. It was brand new from the dealership and about a year after the warranty expired (2012) they noticed that the paint was bubbling up in places. We spoke to an employee of the dealership and was told that other people had complained about the same type of problem with the 2006 models but since the warranty had expired on our vehicle there was nothing they could do about it.
We filed a formal written complaint with the dealership that year and was told that there were no recalls from Ford for this issue, therefore there was nothing to be done. It was really disheartening because my parents were loyal customers of Ford and had owned several Ford vehicles all brand new from the dealership. It's because of them that I bought my car from Ford as well. Yet, when there was clearly a manufacturing defect Ford did not do anything to assist with the problem.
I recently found out about this site so I thought I would share our story. The vehicle has 21,379 miles on it to date and my parents keep it covered in their garage. The paint bubbling has turned into rust. It's unnerving that Ford would sell a poor quality product with their name on it without trying to reconcile known issues with their customers. Needless to say, Ford has lost our business with their negligence and we won't recommend them to anyone anymore.

We have been following this problem with the paint bubbling and chipping for several years. We went back to the dealer several times and always got the same response. They will do ANYTHING to make us happy! Always denied there was a problem and always played dumb when we showed them the internet research we had done. Goes without saying the only help we got from the Ford dealer was to "purchase a new car!" We got so frustrated we just gave up! Glad to see a class action has started.
We will never buy another Ford because of the way we have been treated.

The aluminum lift gate and hood will not allow the paint to stick to the car. As far as I have discovered Ford was aware of this problem well before my car was sold.

I purchased the vehicle at 4 years old and didn't look close enough until I got it home. Since then, the bubbling on the tailgate has bubbled up. When I contacted someone for quotes, the body shop claimed that it is a common issue on Ford SUV tailgates. A Ford dealership also stated this to be common. Something about the type of metal in combination with the paint not sticking properly.

Paint bubbling on tailgate around handle and on the front hood. Seems to be a very common issue with the defective metal used on the tailgate and the hood that Ford in no way wants to take responsibility for.

My 2006 Expedition looks really good with the exception of the hood. It is really awful. I started looking into the cost to get it fixed on line. I then ran across that this is a common problem. If Ford is at fault then Ford should fix it. I am a disabled vet and I no longer can work so it would be great if Ford would take care of their responsibility.

My 2006 ford expedition, that only has 65,800 miles on it, has a severe paint problem. The paint on the hood and back hatch is starting to bubble and in one spot the paint has chipped off about the size of nickel. Ford reports there is nothing they can do to help with the cost of fixing it. After doing some research, it looks like iron contaminated the aluminum hood and hatch causing the bubbling to occur. Ford is saying they will fix it if there is corrosion, but aluminum doesn't rust so there will never be any holes so their warranty wouldn't even fix it if you purchased it anyway. This vehicle is only 5 yrs old and low miles, we washed and took care of this vehicle according to the maintenance manual and gets parked in the garage every night. This shouldn't be a customer's problem and Ford needs to step up and own their mistake here. We had a Dodge Dakota and it had a paint problem with the hood and roof and they took care of the problem no questions asked. Where you at Ford? I want to stick with you, but if you continue to treat customers like they are idiots, I am gone.

Corrosion on many areas of the vehicle. Had to replace the air conditioner condenser because of corrosion and part of the body rusting away. No wonder these vehicles do not keep their resale value. THEY ARE JUNK! Now the lower panels under the doors are rusting away. Ford ought to be ashamed for turning out merchandise like this. Also the aluminum tailgate and aluminum hood is corroding and the paint is falling off.
