Expedition XLT 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 155,474 miles

Just bought this SUV in January. Driving on Sunday and it failed to go into third gear. Looking for shop to fix. Not thrilled about the cost of a major repair on a vehicle that I'm making monthly payments on.

FORD SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought my Expedition later part of 2009, 47,000 miles on it, I figured great deal, low mileage, etc. Not even 2 months after purchase motor sounded like it had a bunch of rocks in it. Took it back to the dealer, after himhawing around Ford finally agreed to replace motor, because it had METAL SHAVINGS IN IT, good for me it was still under warranty, motor seems to be fine today (but who knows), since motor replacement, I have put 2 alternators in this hunk of crap, and now my transmission starting slipping, took it to dealer again, they tell me they pulled the pan and there is YOU WILL NEVER GUESS!! METAL SHAVINGS in the pan. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have this same problem, check out the FORD FORUM, 86 pages of fords sh*tty transmission problems. What a joke.

Expedition

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,888 miles

As I drive my 10 year old to basketball practice my ford won't excellerate higher than 40 driving down a very busy high way. I pull over, my local service man meets me there. He drives it and says the Over Drive is out and it is Ok to drive with O/D off. So, I pick up my son and at a red light some type of Engine Light comes on and the ford dies!!!!! I then take it back to local service man he hooks it up to computer everything leads to Thottle Position Sensor, he replaces it. As he test drives in the transmission dies only goes in reverse!!!! Now, I am awaiting a rebuilt Ford transmission. I paid $55,000.00 for this tricked out truck it isn't worth anything at the moment. I am at 64,8888, warranty expired at 60,000.00! At 55,000 miles the warranty did cover 2 cad. converters!!! I thought this expensive truck would have lasted longer & I still owe $ on it!!!! This is my 3rd Expedition & my Last. Thanks Ford for a Not So Quality Product!!!
