Ford says not covered because the car is out of warranty. Also not covered under the rust through warranty because there must be a "hole all the way through the metal".

I see this on so many of the ford trucks with aluminum hood and tailgate. Really ford? Fix it.

Expedition Eddy Bauer V.8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

I turned the bubbling paint problem in to Lynch ford in Lisbon, Iowa and they said that nothing could be done about it. They sent me to their own body shop and he said he would have to strip the complete back tail gate for $1000 and could not guarantee their work. He said lots of fords where having the same problem. It just keeps getting worse every month. Paying 30 to 40 thousand for a car and now feel bad when people point it out. This SUV has been garaged all the time we have owned it.

Most of my cars have been fords but thinking it might not be for long.

I understand that I am out of warranty but something was not done properly when these components were painted.

Update from Sep 2, 2014: There appears to be a white oxidation beneath the bubbling / blistering paint.

Ford needs to do something about this issue. My 2008 Expedition has blisters all over the hood and back hatch. Now the paint is starting to peel off and has become a major eyesore. Ford needs to step up and correct the errors that they knew they had with their paint and body work! I have purchased many Ford automobiles for my employer and myself since the early 90's and now they're about to lose a dedicated customer over this issue. Prove to your customers that you actually take pride in your product and correct your mistakes!

bubbling paint on the hold

I am so disappointed with the paint failures on this vehicle. Just waiting for the aluminum to start showing through on my black bodied truct.
