Expedition Limited 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,224 miles

MY 2009 Ford Expedition has a loud tapping noise. 2 delearships do not know whats wrong with it. They both have assumptions, don't know the root cause. I get all my oil changes on time, my car look new still, no hot roding. It's a very bad engine, well i have lost power, so i'm using up more gas. This is MY FIRST FORD I HAVE EVER BOUGHT, and it will be my last. All my vehicle that i have ever own (6 vehicles) were new. I guess i'll go back to the Chevy Tahoe, it's more expensive, $10,000 more, but a new engine and accessories with labor will run me close to $10,000. I rather not have the headaches, i already spend over $500.00 to try to get it fix. DON'T BUY A FORD!!!!!!!

Expedition XLT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

driving through Custer Park slowly when started to run rough, lost power, sounded like a diesel and engine light came on. McKee Ford told us the next day to drive it over and we did. It was under extended warranty with Protective Extended Warranty and Ford notified them about our car. They had them take off the valve cover on one side and the cam bearings and the cam phasers were scored. They then had them take off the other side. Again the cam bearings and cam phasers were scored. The engine was CLEAN!! The service records were then requested and we could only produce part of them, as my husband does most of the oil changes himself and I didn't keep all of the receipts. Protective then had Ford put the engine back together again and check the oil pressure. Since they were sending out an inspector, the engine had to be taken apart again. The inspector came out and after seeing the engine, had Ford put the engine back together so he could check the oil pressure (but not according to Ford specs). Protective is now having Ford take off the front cap to see if they can find out what happened to the engine. Protective WILL NOT authorize a new engine until they know why this engine failed. This extended warranty IS in effect and I don't know why we are getting this run around and why they are making McKee Ford jump through so many hoops. We thought we were getting a Ford extended warranty when we bought the car with 2500 miles on it, obviously we DIDN"T!! Ford has had the car for TWO WEEKS and we are no closer to having the problem solved than when we took it in to the dealership. The engine FAILED and since it is under warranty it should be replaced without all the drama and bull poop. McKee is trying to get it taken care of, but Protective Extended Warranty isn't co-operating. So far no one knows what happened to the engine, but I want my car fixed NOW, so I can use it.
