The paint on the tailgate and hood is bubbling or peeling, with corrosion visible where the paint has peeled. While the vehicle has high mileage (over 124k), the rest of the vehicle has nearly flawless paint, demonstrating the care and attention the vehicle has received.
The dealership where I purchased the vehicle would not take any action to correct the issue, saying they did not have a body shop. I'm reporting this to Ford in hopes they will take action on what seems to be a manufacturing quality issue.

I've been told that the paint or primer is faulty and there is a conflict with the aluminum hood vs the supporting brackets, and the cost to repaint them is $ 900. The Ford dealer gave me a number to call about this, but there is no response and the dealer basically says, too bad, it's your problem. I love the vehicle, and would consider buying a new one, but this issue will stop me from doing so. If ford would fix the paint and share the cost with me, I would consider that fair treatment. The way it is, the value is reduced significantly due to Fords faulty paint.

The paint all along the front lip of the hood and around the license plate area on the back deck has bubbled and is flaking off. First noticed in March 2012 when I bought the truck used with 56,000 km and well within the warranty period.
My Ford dealer took pictures at the time and sent them to Ford. Took several months for an answer and the answer was: "Sorry but the warranty only covers the paint damage if there is an actual hole in the metal".
Even used, this was not a cheap vehicle (new it was $53,000 CAN plus tax!!). I've had Fords all my life since my first Falcon in the sixties and never have had an issue like this before. It wouldn't be so annoying if I was the only one, but virtually all the 2010 Expeditions that I see have some degree of this paint problem. Ford knows about this problem and refuses to help.

I just purchased my 2010 Ford Expedition about a week ago. I still have 6 months on the bumper to bumper warranty. I took it to my local for dealer, they said that paint bubbling due to corrosion is not under warranty. I live in Florida and the vehicle has been in Florida it's whole life. There is no reason for this to happen! I called Ford customer service. THEY said it's not under warranty unless there is a hole in the body. Well there is gonna be a hole in the body just about when my warranty runs out.
I have always purchased foreign cars pretty much my whole life and never had a problem like this. I wanted to be a good American and purchase an American made vehicle. So this is what American auto makers call good service?
Don't get me wrong, I love the Expedition but a 2010 Florida car with rust on it? C'mon!!!!!
Ford, if you don't fix this, you SUCK!

This is an inherent problem with FORD Expeditions, bubbling and rust develop on both the hood and tailgate. Supposedly the vehicle is under warranty for corrision for 5 years/50,000 miles, but FORD states unless there is perforation thru the blistering they won't cover the repair. So, even though this was a certified pre-owned it's not under warranty. The problem has been going on since 2000 that I'm aware of, plus it also includes the Explorer and Mustang.

2010 Ford Expedition EL bubbling paint on hood and rear deck lid. Told by Ford customer service, what an oxymoron, and two Ford body shops not covered, also told by body shop mgt. was oxidation due to contamination at Ford plant that built vehicle and that both parts were Aluminum and had problems with all these vehicles and that Ford knew of Problem. Learned that there was a class action suit over this issue but don't know attorney firm handling suit....wish I did. Was in process of ordering new 2015 Expedition but will order new Chevrolet Yukon instead. Have been a loyal Ford customer for 35 years but no more.

I have a 2010 Expedition Eddie Bayer. I recently noticed my tailgate and has bubbles on the edges. The paint is bubbling and it appears that rust is forming underneath it. I wash my truck regularly, but this bubbling issue just seemed to appear out of nowhere. I'm wondering if anyone else had had similar problems with their truck? Mine is Tuxedo Black.

I have notices a lot of 2010 Expeditions has the same paint problem. I haven't gotten an estimate yet but Ford should have covered the cost since it's a on going problem
