I purchased my third Expedition in October 2014. I've been driving an Expedition for 13 years now. After 6 months and about 11,000 miles, I noticed a slight shaking in the steering when I applied the brakes. It got worse and worse so I contacted the local dealer. They stated that the brakes and rotors are not covered under the "bumper-to-bumper" warranty since they are considered maintenance items. The Ford representative also stated that I must have driven through a puddle when the rotors were hot and that would "change the molecular configuration of the steel".
I'm an engineer and saw right through this line a BS. I went to my local mechanic who could not believe the shape all 4 rotors were in. He replaced them for safety reasons ($760.95) and advised me to follow up with Ford Corporate since coordinating with the local Ford dealer would be hopeless. I live in Florida (flat as can be), and drive almost all highway miles (as proven by my high miles in such a short time frame), and have never had this issue with either one of the 2 Expeditions I previously owned. Ford Corporate office, HEAR I COME!!!
