Took the truck into the dealership for its regular service check before going on a family vacation. Had some road noise from the rear end on the way back from the family vacation. Noticed the rear differential was leaking from every seal it had. Extended Service warranty didn't help. Ford Service 1st question was if I had a boat. This is the family vehicle, never goes off road and never has seen more than a puddle on major road ways and somehow they stated the rear differential was 1/2-3/4 full of water. Before I took the truck in for service I had checked the fluid and put in an entire bottle of fluid in before it started to come out of the fill plug. Had no signs of water so not sure how they can state that the differential was 50%-75% full of water. Local dealership has always service this truck from day 1 when purchased new. Had the touch screen replaced on the NAV/Radio which was broken the day it was purchased NEW, the same front passenger strut/shock replaced twice within the first 30K miles, AC leak repaired and serviced every maintenance interval. Still got slammed with a $129 diagnostic fee....to tell me the differential was leaking and it was full of water and nothing covered under warranty. How does a rear differential fill up with over 50% of water on a vehicle that never goes offroad and never used as a boat?

I own a 2014 Ford Expedition Platinum. It is my family hauler, and has never been off road, or hauled a boat, or otherwise been submersed in water. Recently I had to take my Expedition to my Ford Service shop due to a whining sound. Turns out my rear differential had issues. It was also reported that the fluid in the differential was milky, as if it had water in the differential. I have just under 70,000 miles on my vehicle and I also have a wrap warranty through CMA (bought at my Ford dealership when I bought the vehicle).
The short story is that the warranty company would not cover the repairs. The dealership (Pundmann Ford, St. Charles, MO) helped me out a little with the repair, but I am still going to be out of pocket about over $1400.
I have lost my faith in Ford. I currently own two Fords (the Expedition, and an Escape) and I was considering trading in my Silverado for a F150. (looking at the King Ranch and Raptor). I have spent nearly $100,000 with Ford in the last four years. Why should I buy a Ford again? The dealership reached out to someone at Ford, but no assistance was offered. I am tremendously disappoint in the quality and I need a compelling argument why I should trust you with another $70,000 of my money if you are not going to stand by your products. So why should I buy Ford again?
Furthermore, is this a common complaint about Expeditions?
