While driving out of parking lot during a very warm day (100) degrees, A/C blower was on high as normal for warm day. The A/C blower suddenly stopped working and a sudden smell of something burning became evident inside of car. Suddenly smoke started coming out of the passenger side defroster and A/C vents. After passenger exited vehicle, I went to look under passenger glove compartment and discovered a small fire under dash. I tried to douse flames with water bottle but with no effect. Opened glove compartment box and flames came out of opening immediately. I then witnessed a small size (soup can) canister and melting plastic fall on the passenger floor of dripping fire. Fire quickly spread up into dash and windshield and then cabin. Called 911 and fire department arrived within 3-4 minutes as fire became an inferno and car burnt to the ground.
