My expedition was reprogrammed when I bought it due to the Cam phaser rattle. This did not help. I was told this was normal and would not effect the engine. I had taken it in a second time to be reprogrammed an given the same information. My Ford service says fifth cylinder misfire. The car shakes and idles hard. The spark plug and parts were replaced as suggested with no change. Took it to the shop and was told I now need a new engine due to an internal failure of the engine. I called Ford and they said there is no recall on this year. The Cam phaser reprogram was a customer satisfaction and not a recall. I asked if they would offer assistance since now I need a new engine. They will not. I called about ordering a new engine. Iwas was told there is over 250 people waiting for an engine as they are backordered by the Ford service department. It will be $10,000 plus 1200 for the core plus install. There are no availble engine due to the backorder and you must pay for the parts to get on the waitlist. The earliest they will release them is in November. How are there this many people waiting for an engine and no recall? This is a safety issue as all cylinders are not firing and there is not enough compression to make the vehicle run correctly. The check engine light appears solid upon starting the car and then will start blinking. The vehicle was inspected by an independent shop as I took my expedition to Ford for 60,000 service and they put the wrong fluid in my differential and then I had to have this rebuilt by them. After telling them something was wrong multiple times after they gave it back. So I do not trust to take it back to them. The independent shop confirmed this is a problem with these engines. I took it in due to the check engine light and hard idle that was getting worse.

On three separate occasions, my vehicle lost the ability to accelerate. The first time I was attempting to pass slow moving farm equipment when my vehicle lost power, had a loud vibrating/rattling noise and multiple dashboard warnings flashed. Luckily, I was able to merge back into my lane and pull off the side of the road. I took the vehicle in for service and was told I needed new phasers. Once I got my vehicle back, I was still experiencing issues. Fortunately, the next two times my vehicle lost power I was driving at low speeds. I did have my kids with me on one occasion and it scared them quite a bit. I am not sure what the loud noise is but they stopped riding with me after that. Thank goodness I was not driving my family on the highway when experiencing a power failure. My vehicle is back at a dealership waiting for a new transmission.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that occasionally while her husband drives at various speeds, the vehicle would fail to accelerate as intended when depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, the contact stated the rear truck door had fallen on her husband's head a few times in the past and would only open halfway. Minor injuries were sustained but medical attention was not sought. No warning light illuminated. On occasion, the contact mentioned that the automatic step on the front passenger side would not lower as intended and would remain up while pressing the switch. The contact also stated that the front hood does not remain open independently and would shut. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the extended warranty would not cover the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

I am being told that the Cam Phasers need to be replaced. This is a well known issue to Ford. They did a programming adjustment in 2021, and then did replacements only if you had continued issues up until Jan 2023. I have issues now, and they are telling me I am not covered. The cam phasers have been redesigned so they know they installed poorly designed parts originally. This is an almost $4,000 repair.

The vehicle has the known cam phaser issue commonly reported on 3.5L Ecoboost engines. It is a known problem, that the dealership is so aware of they were able to provide a repair quote on the spot. The engine had less than 50,000 miles when the issue was first discovered. The safety issue is the engine failing while driving could place someone in an unsafe situation depending on how and when it failed.

The car will randomly downshift or not upshift, drastically changing the handeling. It will get stuck in gears (Like 7th) and then not accelerate in traffic from a stop. The shifts are harsh enought that the tires with loose traction in wet conditions... The car is unsafe to drive and the dealer can't find a solution, other than I pay for a new transmission. The problems started with a software update for shifting into 1st gear at speed. This happens too often!

My Variable Valve Timing Actuator is not functioning properly only after 60,000 miles. Jacob's Auto Repair in Sturgis, SD had confirmed the problem. There is already a case for this problem. But my VIN number is not listed in the case and it should be as it fits all criteria. My check engine light is on.

Since we bought our car, it has had a rattle upon startup. This was originally a recall, which we got repaired, but this repair did not make the rattle go away. I then had a transmission problem and had to have the transmission overhauled due to it having violent, jerky, unpredictable shifting between gears. When I mentioned the rattle again while they were fixing the transmission, they said that it-??s a known problem with Ford cam phasers around our model year. They informed me that the fix offered in the recall was an electronic fix, but the actual parts need to be replaced and the recall didn-??t cover that. The parts replacement was almost $4000, and from my research, not replacing these parts can cause the engine to stop functioning properly over time. In the past two weeks, I have been getting safety notices from my car that there are timing issues that need to be serviced. Contacting Ford did not help as there is no active recall for this problem. From my research, there is an active lawsuit open against Ford for this cam phaser problem with my year model car. Overall, cam phasers play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency, performance, and reliability of 10-speed engines by enabling precise control over the engine-??s valve timing. However, after just replacing my transmission we cannot afford to pay another $4000 for this error. Ford said they cannot help unless there is a recall on the vehicle.

My expedition since I bought it completely turns off on me on roads and highways and throws up a wrench symbol and check engine light. Everytime I bring it in to the dealer they keep clearing codes and never fixing anything even tho I have extended warranty. They have had my car for 5-6 months maybe longer but the last time they had it for over a month said everything is fine for our roadtrip. Well the car turned off on me and died in the middle of the Utah Highway... had to be towed. was told it has 70 plus alerts
