Not sure if this is the right place but it-??s the cam Phaser rattle issue on the Ford 3.5 it happened to my 2012 F150 and now it happened on my 2019 expedition started about 80,000 miles now has 115 and they have refused to pay. This has been happening for at least 12 years with no accountability to ford Something needs to be done because it-??s like a $4500 repair and they know that it-??s a problem with these engines, but they keep selling them without fixing the problem please make them do a recall on this issue

Cam Phasers were replaced in Oct 2021 due to a service bulletin. The cam phasers are defective and have to be replaced again. This is all over forums, social media as well as dealers knowledge. Ford has redesigned the cam phasers but they refuse to cover a replacement. How is this legal when there are so many with the same problem! My Expedition is at the dealer and they have determined the issue and even filed a claim with Ford. Ford denied the claim. I don-??t understand how this is even possible. This is not a small number of people with this problem. It-??s massively widespread.

Ford has a recall for 2019 Expeditions. This recall replaces the Cam Phaser, which if this fails, the vehicles engine will not start. This leaves the occupants of this vehicle stranded. Our 2019 Expedition was experiencing these issues and ford acted on the recall, replacing the cam phaser at 58,000 miles. This repair/ replacement would cost the owner well over $2000 of out of pocket expense. Our vehicle is currently experiencing the exact same issue at 113,000 miles and Ford will not honor the recall a second time. The math doesn't lie. The life of this cam phaser is lasting under 60,000 miles. If this is a know defect by Ford Motor Co., why are they not being held accountable to fix the underlying issue, or at a minimum continue to repair the known issue?

My Ford Expedition has lost power 4 times requiring me to pull off the Interstate and have the car towed. I have been driving 75-80 mph each time this has happened. It is as if the car takes a big deep breath, and then loses all power. It failed most recently on Halloween 2023, and then again in March of 2024. Prior to these two times, the car has lost power 2 other times. It has always been serviced at a Ford dealership. All three times INCLUDING this last time the dash lights on the car have read, "powertrain failure" and "pre-collision brake assist not available". When it failed in March, even though it registered a code both on my dash and in my Ford Pass App, the dealership said they could not reproduce the problem therefore, there was nothing they could fix. I am scared to get behind the wheel of this car. I also do not want to sell it to anyone else for fear they will have the same problem. Cars don't just lose power while driving 75 mph. It is dangerous and a definite safety concern. It is not like I am driving a pinto. This was a brand new car, is fully paid for, has clean maintenance records, and is an expensive vehicle. It has been well taken care of and should not have power failure four times at only 4 years old. It is terrifying to be driving at high speed and lose power. I have been very lucky to not have caused a secondary accident on the freeway, or been in an accident myself when this has happened.

In May 2023, our 2019 Expedition Max began experiencing intermittent stuttering at various speeds. Initially, we didn't consider it a major issue since the Check Engine light never illuminated. However, the problem worsened over time. Upon seeking advice, we took it to the dealer for inspection, only to be told a day later that they found no issues. We suspect the technician simply connected a diagnostic machine to the car's computer to check for faults. Despite our concerns, we ultimately had to replace the entire transmission, a process that dragged on for four months. My main concern is the car's apparent inability to detect serious engine problems. We originally purchased the vehicle to accommodate our large family, but now I'm deeply worried about their safety. This raises serious questions about the reliability and safety features of this model, prompting me to urge for a recall and replacement of faulty components.

August 08, 2023 on highway while driving, powertrain malfunction/reduced power warning appear, followed by a pre-collision assist failure and an electrical fault with turbocharger sensor. Pulled over, waited 30 minutes, restarted and all warnings went away. 9/11/23 vehicle diagnosed with cam phaser failure. 11/22/23 cam phaser repair completed. 11/23/23 while driving on highway, same series of events as August occurred. However, this time the service engine soon light did not go away. Returned home on 11/25/23. On 11/26/23, while driving in neighborhood the engine lost all mechanical power(ability to steer, provide any acceleration, or shift gears). Vehicle towed to dealership. Diagnosed with a snapped timing chain and associated timing components (e.g., pistons). Had this occurred while driving on highway or other major thoroughfare, not only would the occupants lives been at risk but the lives of those around me would have been at risk because the ability to maneuver the vehicle was impaired and loss of control would have occurred.

In June of 2022 (50,284 miles) we were experiencing hard shifting and noises upon starting. We took it to our local dealership in Virginia who did an upgrade on the powertrain control module and told me what I was experiencing was normal for this transmission and not a concern. In December of 2022 (57,715 miles), my husband was driving our expedition when it suddenly downshifted, would not accelerate, and a warning popped up saying -??drive mode unavailable-??, in addition to a wrench and engine light displaying on the dashboard. We immediately had it towed to our local dealership where they diagnosed the problem as needing a MAP sensor replacement even though there was no codes showing. In March of 2023 (at 63,20 miles) while traveling with my 2 young children down the highway at 75 mph in a desolate area, my car made a noise, downshifted very hard, and lost ability to accelerate. The same warning popped up stating -??drive mode unavailable-??. I had to maneuver my vehicle to the shoulder in traffic traveling at a high rate of speed with my children in the car. I again had it towed to a ford dealership where they stated it was due to the previous dealership only replacing one MAP sensor so they replaced both. On October 28, 2023 (at approximately 72,000 miles) while traveling at 75 mph on a highway in a desolate area, my car again downshifted, lost the ability to accelerate, and had the same pop up stating -??drive mode unavailable-?? with the same warning lights as the previous 2 times. I had to navigate across multiple lanes to the shoulder in low visibility pouring rain with vehicles driving at a high rate of speed. My car has been at a dealership for 2 weeks now and they have diagnosed the issue is my cam phasers and the repair is for them to be replaced. I opened a case with Ford customer experience who agreed to pay 40% of the cost. I have been put in dangerous situations due to Ford-??s refusal to put out a recall when it is a known issue.
