On April 20, 1999 I had my 45,00 mile service performed at a local Ford dealership in dallas, tx on our '95 Ford Explorer XLT. During that service visit the technician noted the steel core exposed on the left rear tire; after close examination of the defective tires it was noted that it appeared that the tire had blistered and burst the outer core. Since this was well before (16 months ago) the Firestone axt recall our only recourse was to place the tire(s). In a effort to not put myself or family at risk we elected to "bit- the-bullet" and purchased a complete set of new Michelin tires at sam's wholesale store. I wish to be reimbursed along with the other customers who are offered replacement tires or being reimbursed for tires purchased after January 1, 2000. I feel that I was was victimized by Firestone's misjudgment, but unfortunately at this time do not fall within there 'specified window' of replacement or reimbursement policy guidelines. Any help you can provide me would be appreciated. I have contacted both Ford Motor Company and Bridgestone-Firestone and have been passed on from phone number to phone number to no avail. I am very frustrated with both Ford & Firestone as to how they have handled this unfortunate situation with the general public as well as myself. Right rear tire shows definite signs of tread separation. Small hairline crack running around outside of tire about an inch down from top of tread. Left rear tire not as noticeable but on close examination shows signs of beginning to separate. Although tire size is not on recall list when inspected by Firestone dealer they agreed to replace all four tires.( dot number: W2hl tire size: P235/75R15 )

We purchased new Firestone Wilderness AT tires (P235/75R15) from our local costco tire center on 06-27-99. Our tires do not have the recalled dot serial number, but we had them inspected at the costco tire center just to be safe. The tire installer at costco pointed out that both front tires had started to crack and separate where the tread meets the sidewall. We were told to replace the tires immediately. Costco will replace the tires, but has to put on another pair of Firestone wilderness tires. I repeat, our tires are not currently subject to recall, even though they are also defective. At the time of this E-mail, the tires only have 22,329 miles on them and the tread is in danger of separating. It is my belief that all Firestone wilderness tires should be recalled immediately! if Firestone knew beforehand about problems with their tires, they should be held criminally liable for any deaths and injuries associated with their tires. Please add my name to the list of complaints about Firestone Wilderness AT tires.( dot number: 8xhlipy tire size: P235/75R15 )

Hate Firestone, they replaced recall tires with at's. had ATX. We also paid $200+ to have them put on 4 new shocks. Said if we not happy they will replace with anything we wanted. Would not have accepted the at's if he hadn't said we could get replaced if not happy. Contacted them and asked for Goodyear or michellin's. they have brushed us off. Heard some got $500 to replace tires anywhere they wanted but since ours have been replaced once, afraid we will not be reimbursed. Current tires are very hard ride and cause car to dash lights to go out, and car isn't as steady on the at's. these 4X4 at's seem to want to hunt and not good in mud. Live in country and use 4 wheel drive often. Hate these tires. Will never buy Firestone tires again!( dot number: Tire size: P23575R15 )

Prior to accident I could not keep the tires balanced. I also had the 16 inch tires fail on my 1998 Explorer. I could not keep them balanced and they would bounce all over. I replaced them with Michelin tires.( dot number: Tire size: 16 inch )

One of originally installed 16 " Firestone Wilderness AT tires in Ford explore blew out prematuarly when we were driving on the South-bound of I-95 at conneticut on May 10, 1999. Fortunately, no accident was involved and no one was injured. We just replaced brocken tire to a new one at nearby tire shop. I have not reported to anyone then. This tire failure was obviously premature tire failure, which is the same to the one currently recalled on Firestone tires. I brought the car for inspection at a Ford dealer in Virginia in late August, but they rejected to replace it since this is 16 inch tire and only 15 inch tires were recalled then. I am reporting that 16 inch tires of this tiye are also in danger as we experienced and those shall be recalled immediately to avoid future accidents.( dot number: Tire size: P255/70R16 )

The front tires blew out while driving on the highway at an approximate speed of 50-55 mph. As a result I lost control of the car which flipped over the guard rail and rolled down a 70 foot ditch. I was in the car and was severely injured, sustaining permanent external injury (I.e., scarring) and internal (I.e, headaches, backache).( dot number: Tire size: 255 16 )

Was traveling on highway 59 South in Texas, heading towards houston when I was existing off a ramp into a 360 degree curve when all of sudden the right rear tire tread separated and blew out. My Ford Explorer vehicle then spunned several times in a complete circles, however, due to a rainy conditions, the vehicle went into a sliding circular moition rather than flipping the vehicle due to loss of traction. My wife, daughter, son, and mother were the occupant in the vehicle when this incident happend. My mother was jarred and sustain a laceration to her lower lip and brusing of her face due to the sudden impact with the shoulder of roadway and a drainage ditch. On the second blowout of the same brand of tire, I was traveling North on interstate 55 in Mississippi when I incurred another tread separation and blow out of the right rear tire which was also made by Firestone.. both tire were purchased in July of 1998, current mileage on the vehicle at time of purchase was 72,635 miles. I truly believe that these tires were defective and I replaced all of the Firestone tires with the Bridgestone dueller apt II tires. Still have reservation regarding these tires also being that they were manufactured by the parent company of Firestone.( dot number: Vnculpx208 tire size: 255/70/S16 )

I purchased these tires at vehicle mileage 111655, and the tires have a 50,000-mile warranty. I had to replace them at 150984 miles because of tread separation on the back two tires. Mechanic's notes are "two rear tires separated. Tread depth 2 at 12 & 2 at 10." Description of tires -- Wilderness AT P255 70R 16 109S M/S (27951urbmo61755) made in Canada. I was hoping that these tires would make it to the recall, so I have not submitted them for warranty replacement yet. I have the tires.
