I was involved in a accident 09/10/2011. I had my seatbelt fastened at the time, but when i crashed the seat belt did not work. I received some nerve damage to my left arm, neck, shoulder and hand numbness. After the accident, the deputy investigating the accident also witnessed that now the seatbelt would not even latch closed. My vehicle is probably totaled because of the model, but i have never had a seatbelt not work. Should i try to get an attorney to pursue this matter or just contact Ford Motor Company to see if they want to come to some kind of financial resolution?

I was driving down the road and there goes the damn seat belt, just came undone. I went to a junkyard and managed to get one for $5.50 no big deal, but of course a safety issue

the damn thing decided to unlatch right in front of cops but stay latched all the other times. I just went to a junk yard and took one off an explorer (I don't even think it was the same year) and just replaced it myself. The buckle cost 7.00 dollars and all you gotta do is slide the seat all the way up, take the small bolt on the top right next to your seat. It holds the thing your buckle is attached to to the seat. once the bolt is out slide it all the way back for plenty of room. use your star bit and just change it out. try to find an explorer with no seat at the junk yard. its so much easier. and i actually think i used a passenger side one for the driver side. hope i helped.

Drivers side seat belt will only latch (or partially latch) when pulled towards drivers right hip.
Front passenger's side seat belt difficult to locate and connect latch.

I have never had a car that the seat belt just comes undone at will. The dealer wants $200 to fix it but in my mind it never should have broke!! Don't they make any good cars anymore?

Ford Motor Company should have issued a Recall for this problem or they should reimburse those of us who have already fixed the problem. They want $165.95 + tax+ shipping for the LF seat belt buckle(latch) . If you have to replace the whole system for one person/seat buckle, belts, tensioner it will cost $2500.00+++. Since all the Authorities require you to wear them for your safety,DAMN SURE FORD SHOULD PICK UP SOME IF NOT THE COSTS.!!!!!!!!!!! EHerbaugh Sonoma,CA
