Note: There is a video of a crash test similar to the crash called "1998 Ford Explorer Sled Test Seatback Failure. I Do Not own the video, I just saw it and thought it would be helpful to get an understanding of the crash.

THE CRASH THAT PARALYZED MY COUSIN!

It was a hot August day, around 3 pm. My cousin was heading to pick up a pizza for dinner. While waiting at a red light, a man in his 20s (he said he just had his wisdom teeth pulled out and was discombobulated) came crashing into her, at about 35 MPH. The impact caused my cousin's seat to go backwards into the rear seat, her head to smash into the rear seat, causing fractures in her neck and spine. I got a call from the local hospital sometime later saying that one of my relatives was in the emergency room, and that her injuries looked very serious. I rushed to the hospital, and was in the waiting room for 6 hours when the doctor called us (my family) in. He said that she may never walk again.

Lucky she survived! I can't believe that no one except Volvo, Mercedes, and BMW have managed to fix this problem for a couple of bucks and everyone else was so cheap! What is it, if you own a luxury car, they promise for you not to turn into a human missile during a rear - end collision?!? COME ON!!! If you own any American car 2005 or older, it should be recalled for this defect that killed millions, but only cost a couple of bucks per vehicle to fix!! BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT BUY AN AMERICAN CAR 2005 OR OLDER!!! If you own one, please get rid of it!!!
