Explorer LXT 6 Cld

my 1997 ford explorer i have to take out the fuse so the battery doesn't go dead. my door ajar light is on, and my dome lights don't go right out when the car is shut off and the doors are shut. however, they will go out when its, running, and put in gear, and driven. how do you fix this ?
