I own two explorers now, the 1998 we made a hole behind the glove box and wired it to have heat in the winter, now I bought a 2002 yesterday, no heat again. What's Fords problem, build it right the first time.

the motor shuts the door until it stalls, bending the plastic door until it fails.it is a crappy system, but i guess it works until warranty ends.takes 10 hours for a mechanic to change it,unless you go through the glove compartment and cut a hole in the heater box. buy and install aftermarket blend door, installs in 1 hour.

Its not a matter of whether her vehicle is old. Yours is old, mine is old. Every single second generation Exploder out there has had, or soon will have a broken blend door. Not to mention the f150 and taurus. Its damned stupid design. The repair part is $8.00 and the labor to have a dealer fix it is over 800.00. Its a poorly designed, weak part. Ford ought to have its collective ass kicked for putting it in and refusing to stand behind it.

It wont keep the kids warm Jen, but you are far from alone.

He is correct, it is an easy enough fix. If you don't mind hacking your heater box open and installing retro parts.

Good luck to you.

My children are cold...do what? let them freeze? I don't have money for every problem that occurs. But you know what, people who sell these cars don't give a sh*t
