This started in winter of 2013. When changing the AC to heat a clicking noise starts and I have to keep switching the control back and forth to get the noise to stop. Sometimes the clicking noise will make a really loud clunk like something is going to break in there. At first it only made the noise once in a while. Now it makes the noise every time I use the AC or heater.

The clicking noise when you turn the temp control knob is a broken blend door, located in the heater box behind the glove box. That's the door flap that moves to allow cold air to mix with hot air. It's a common problem for Ford and I've read it's about a $1500 repair at the dealer. There are DIY repairs available on the internet if you're mechanically inclined and have the time. This is a known and common flaw and Ford should fix it. This is NOT normal wear and tear.

Heater has developed a really loud clicking noise when turned on..Clicking seems to get louder as temp selector is turned more toward hot..

AC had very loud clicking and chirping noise every 45 seconds or so on hot days. In underground parking, this would draw attention from people several rows away wondering what was wrong. Dealer replaced compressor and pulley, but problem continues this year (09) but not as frequent. Baffles have slight squeak as the air flow changes, but not as loud as when the heater is working (see separate complaint)

When heater is working, there is a frequent hiss, pop, or squeak (different noises at different times). I assume it is related to baffles opening and closing (dual air controls) but it is very, very annoying and not heard in any other vehicle. Similar to the AC problem reported separately.

The problem is very inconvenient.............especially since it's is freezing cold out.

Whenever I turn on the AC or heat and have it coming out of the vents, I hear a loud clicking noise. It sounds as if something is stuck behind there and sounds like it could snap. Haven't took it back to the dealer, but will soon!
