Explorer LX V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 119,200 miles

I bought a used 2006 ford explorer on Saturday March 9 2013, On Sunday March 10, 2013 while driving the car I noticed that it started to jerk around 45 to 50 mph and while slowing down. On Monday March 11, 2013 I was driving to work and it started jerking really bad and the check engine light came on I stopped at an advanced auto parts and had the code read, it said that there was a misfire in cyl. 4 had it replaced on Tuesday March 12, 2013 went to pick up my truck to day Wednesday March 13, 2013 and while driving home from the shop it started doing the same exact thing the check engine light blinked on and off then stayed off so back to the shop I go!

Explorer XLT 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,135 miles

Only have had this vehicle for three months. A wrench light comes on and the vehicle begins to jerks and snatch. I always have hated a ford because never good for anything but on their dealership lot. Have a powertrain warranty but of course they tell you the part are not covered under the warranty. I only plan to keep this vehicle for another six to seven months but plan returning to a Volvo where I know I will have a sense of security and dependability.

Explorer V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

i had the same problem since January. my engine shakes, hesitant, engine revves while driving, engine lite on & off, constant misfire...

I've had the spark plugs coil pack & wires exchanged out constantly. i've had the transmission flushed, radiator checked, new fuel filter, etc.

i've been back and forth to my mechanic to the point they advised to go to the dealer. The dealer kept my car for 2 days and said they were unable to determine the misfires... finally said it was bad gas and i needed to clean my tank. The problem still exists.

Explorer Limited

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Now the car shakes when accelerating ( of course never when it is around a mechanic) and it will accelerate up to 60 mph without touching the gas pedal. I have to drive down the street riding the brake. Oh yeah, and when it gets tired of doing that it stalls out again!

Explorer Limited 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,796 miles

It is definitely annoying when a brand new vehicle with the improved technology gives you this feeling of dissatisfaction and you are told there is no solution for that you've got to live with it as the mechanics have no solutions for it. Until the factory engineers come up with a solution with its programming no one can do any thing about it. SORRY GUYS you've got to live with it.
