March 27, 2009 the check engine light started setting code P0466, local garage replaced the Evap. Canister vent solenoid...the problem went away for 10.5 months...Feb. 8th 2010 it came back...I took it to a different shop...they determined it was the same solenoid bad again even though I requested they check the voltage...they said it was another bad solenoid and replaced it.."WRONG"...I took the car to local Ford dealer for RECALL on shifter circuit board 2-10-2010...It set the code again...I gave them permission to diagnose the problem ....he came back with the plug to the evap. vent solenoid in his hand...said we found the problem...replaced the Evap. Cannister Vent Solenoid Pigtail....(3U2Z-14S411-JZA)...car has had several starts and stops since and problem has not returned...I took the part back to the other garage and showed them what that had apparently fixed the problem...which I had requested them to check...The mechanic when showed the plug...said "the hot voltage was good--The Ground looked a little "funky", but I thought it was ok.....based on what I saw on another site...Exployers, Ranges, and Mazada B100 can all have this problem ??? If you are getting OBD Code ll, P0466, before you get carried away changing EVAP. Canister Solenoids...Check this Pigtail...especially the ground....
