problem #1

Explorer Eddie Bauer V8

When I noticed the cracks on the hood, at first I thought it was the clear coat. I brought the car to a professional detailer who informed me the problem was actually deep cracks in the paint I asked if a clay treatment would help the situation. He said it would likely accentuate it and make it worse. In other words, no hope for a topical fix. The rest of the car looks fine--however, the top, front portion of the fenders also have similar cracks developing, though they are not quite as high in numbers. I got an estimate from a professional paint shop on 9/19/20 to repaint the hood, but I was told it would be more like a refurbishment--stripped down to the metal, errr, the aluminum. The quote was for $550.00 with no guarantee. He explained this is a common complaint with Ford Explorers. That prompted me to inquire on line on 9/22/20. It didn't take long to find a newly filed class action suit was filed in 2019, in the state of Tennessee. My vehicle is a 2008 Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer, V8, 4 wheel drive. Breaks my heart and pisses me off at the same time, because on all other counts it's a great vehicle. Among the best I have owned.

See the link below for class action law suit against Ford Motor Company. I warn you, when you learn of that company's actions, or inactions, as it were, it'll piss you off!!
