Explorer XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Wife was leaving our driveway and the Explorer shuts completely down: engine quit, power steering gone, brakes barely work. This could have been a very serious issue had she been driving down a highway. When trying to restart, all warning lights will appear: low fuel, low brake fluid, low coolant, trac system, key system, and the wrench. There is also a clicking sound after I tried to start it & turned the key back to off, wasn’t a battery click because the key was off. We have yet to find a solution, so it’s sitting halfway down the driveway. My two concerns: what will this cost to repair & this could’ve been a lot more serious on a highway with a carload full of kids. I hope someone has a solution to prevent it from happening again.

I cannot believe Ford would not act, or do not have a fix for this problem. This is a serious problem that put the lives of the whole family on the line. Imagine traveling at 70mph and suddenly engine dies, power steering gone and power brakes as well.

Come on FORD,
