The projector style headlights do not cover side-to-side and on "low beams" a shadow mask cuts off light abruptly above mid point. On low beams, driving country roads is downright dangerous. As you go into a dip in the road, your forward vision as severely curtailed. Also, on low beams there is no right side coverage, so road signs are illegible at night. On high beams, owls get a tan, and lots of light scatters back from the street-to-high-branches coverage, as reflective road signs blast light back at you, but the right-side signs are still a problem.
Unlike classic headlights, there is no attempt to direct more light to the right when the switch is made from high to low beams. Likewise, there is no attempt to attenuate light toward oncoming traffic, except based on horizon/height. If you're coming over a rise, you blind oncoming cars. I've gotten "flicked off" - headlight-wise - many times when driving at night with low beams. I can't believe the designers of these lights ever drive outside the flatlands, and have never driven in areas without street lights. Out here in the country, this design reeks!!!

Poor headlights! Driving this car at night is a huge danger! I had to pull over and see if the lights were actually working and they were on as well as the fog lights. It's like driving by brail! I have had multiple vehicles and this is the worst! I am thinking about selling the vehicle just because it is unsafe to drive at night. Ford needs to do something about this problem. I upgraded the headlight bulb to the brightest that Sylvania makes and it still does not illuminate the road. I spoke to the ford dealership and they said they know it's a problem.
