Had the interior stitch of the armrest repaired by an upholstery shop because Ford wanted $600 for a new panel. It tore out again in October, we don't even use the armrest. Never again will I buy a Ford.

So disappointed! I noticed the paneling separated. Took it to Ford, only to be advised it wasn't under warranty. I was advised it probably happened with wear and tear and from me resting my arm on the door. What a joke! I'm 5'1, 115 lbs... I'm pretty sure my little arm couldn't do that...my arm doesn't even reach to the door...

I tried it after the guy told me that. I also told my coworker that has a 2015 Explorer and she was shocked and sent me a picture of her car, with the same split! Ford should be held responsible. You can YouTube videos on how people repaired their doors. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO REPAIR 3-5 YEAR OLD CARS THAT COST AROUND $40K!

I bought this Ford Explorer used with 34,000 miles and for a vehicle that is only 4 years old the stitching should not be coming loose on the armrest. My wife who is only 5 ft tall and weighs less than 150 pounds and never rests her arm on this panel and only drives 3 miles to work and home taking care of this car should not have an armrest coming apart. I have always owned Honda's and Chevy's and was liery about purchasing a Ford because of poor craftsmanship like this.

I will go back to Foreign and German made vehicles or only purchase Chevy since Ford will not take care of their customers. And Ford wonders why Americans won't support their vehicles. Make them better on the inside and not just focus on gas mileage and Eco-Boost.

Arm rest stitching is breaking apart. Car is less than 3 years and under 13.000 miles. Poor craftsmanship with a problem that dates back more than 3 years as reported by other Ford Explorer owners. I'm waiting to see if Ford covers this under warranty. The car is leased so I assume that will have to repair it anyway when I turn the car back in. I'm not happy with this quality issue.

Explorer Limited 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission

I have own this car since new. It has been a great running and driving utility vehicle. But the fit and trim are way out order. The seat stitching is showing wear, the installation around the door is splitting, the door jam were window goes down is splitting, also the rear hatch does not align with door frame. When considering buying a new car it is important how it wears. This Explorer is less than 3 years old and should not have problems like this. Will look for a better auto with a quality material.
