Passenger's side door panel is peeling on my 2015 Explorer. Obviously its a problem as many of you have also mentioned it. I am a police officer and I have seen the same problem on one of our Explorer fleet vehicles. This coupled with the myriad of other problems including a failing steering gear is enough to say I will never purchase another Ford in my life. 10 years with a Toyota 4 Runner and never an issue! After this piece of garbage dies, I know where my money is going!

I had the door panel replaced on the driver side. Now I have the same problem with passenger side. Exact same problem bulging and pulling away from top side. This is obviously a flaw and needs to be recalled. They fixed the driver's side because it was still under warranty (23,000 mi), but now it is not under warranty (42,xxx miles).

I have bought fords every since I could drive....I have always thought that Ford's were a great car but this will be my last purchase from Ford. This should be a recall fix. I am not the only one that has had this problem. I should not have to pay for the fix when there are so many of the ford explorers doing this. Something should be done about it.

I'm trying to set up an appointment to get this repaired and will let everyone know how it turns out.

Explorer XLT 3.5L

My 2015 Ford Explorer XLT has the interior door panel coming loose just under the driver's side window. While this is my 2nd Explorer, it has been a lemon from day one. Within weeks of taking delivery, I found that the rear air conditioner did not work. I reported this to the dealer, and they documented that it was a problem, but needed to take in my car for an indefinite period of time. I could not do that without a loaner and they would not provide one. After multiple complaints and no action, I eventually contacted Ford Co directly, and they said they would handle it. The dealership then noted that my warranty was up by that stage (by about 1000 miles). I noted that this problem had been documented since my first service, but they still declined. I contacted the California Customer service agency, who threatened legal action, and the problem was fixed under the "lemon law". But problems persist, and the door panel issue is simply the most recent. Being primarily a Ford owner for almost 40 years, it is disappointing to realize that this loyalty is one-sided. I will be trading this vehicle in at a loss and buying a Toyota. Very sad decision for a committed "Buy American" Ford owner!

With a car that is a 2015 Limited, the door panel should not pull loose. It is only 2 years old. I have had Fords my entire life and have had several Explorers. I have never had this problem. Apparently there is a quality control problem at the plant and they need to do a recall and have this fixed. It is obviously not just mine that this has happened to. Ford should stand behind their product and fix this!

I have a 2015 Ford Explorer with 32,953 miles. It went out of warranty 3 weeks ago. Both door panels have come loose in the last week. I have reported to the dealership and FORD. They refuse to fix the problem. I realize the SUV is out of warranty, but this is unreasonable. I have heard of many other Explorers with the same issue. This is my first Ford, and most likely my LAST FORD. I should have stuck with GMC and bought another YUKON! This SUV is not FORD TOUGH!

So ridiculous! I've only had this truck two years and the paneling on the inside of the driver's door is coming up. We have tried gluing it down, putting something inside of the panel to hold it down, and taping it down. Nothing has worked and now it needs to be repaired professionally when it shouldn't have happened in the first place. This is a very expensive truck that I'm paying on monthly for the next four years and already it looks like a piece of junk! Why isn't Ford addressing this issue when so many other people are dealing with this from the 2015 Explorer model? Ford should definitely look into this and repair this problem for free because it shouldn't be happening. I've seen other people with vehicles from Ford who don't have this problem and their cars are way older than mine, why is this happening to this particular vehicle? It's definitely got to be a flaw from Ford which makes them responsible. I hope someone looks into this and does right by consumers like me who take pride in their vehicles and pay their bills. It's crap like this that makes you want to go to a different company. What happened to the old adage, "BUILT FORD TOUGH?" Ford get it together or you will definitely lose a customer!

door panel coming loose door panel coming loose

My 2015 Explorer Limited was a special order arriving in November 2014. Other than Ford service personnel it has never been driven by anyone but myself. In August 2016 I noticed a small hump in front of the lock on the drivers side. There was approximately 33000 miles on the vehicle at this time. This small hump has grown to 8" to 10" and definitely has detracted from the value of the vehicle.

Over a 48 year span I have been the proud owner of 5 Mercury's, 2 Lincoln's and 8 Fords, sadly, #16 is a great disappointment. I purchased the Premium Extended warranty for this vehicle to the tune of over $1,500.00. The current mileage is around 43,000 and I certainly expected this vehicle to stay together longer than this.

I called Ford Customer Service and the representative I talked to was very rude, would not allow me to speak with a supervisor, told me Ford could fix the problem but I would be responsible for the cost or I could take the vehicle to a body shop and have it repaired. This is a factory defect that Ford should repair.

At this point I feel my only fault was purchasing a Ford product. The dealer I had been doing business with for the past 20 years was a small town dealer with a great customer service department, unfortunately he was no longer able to comply with the demands of big business and it was another case of the little business man being shoved out. He had a great reputation and a lot of repeat business. He made sure his customers were taken care of. (A great asset to Ford, hope he starts selling Chevy's and I will be his first customer)

After researching this problem it is apparent I am not the only one with this problem.. That being said it sure appears to be a Ford problem that they are not willing to take responsibility for. They sure don't take the pride in their product they used to. FORD, DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX YOUR PRODUCT DEFECTS!!!!!!!!

Both the front driver and passenger door panels are coming loose at the top, right where the door panel meets the window. This is clearly a manufacturing defect and from my research, one that Ford is aware of. This should not happen on a two year old, $40K+ vehicle! My Ford dealer told me that, unfortunately, this issue was out of the 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty and that it would cost about $1200 to replace both door panels. Because of the design, attempting to repair the door panels is not a good, sustainable option. They said replacing the driver side would cost about $300 and the passenger side would be about $800 because apparently, there have been more issues with the driver side so the cost to replace that side has come down! My dealer tells me that there's nothing they can do. I think Ford should stand behind their products on issues of quality and poor workmanship if they hope to keep customers! This is my 5th Ford Explorer and I have ONLY owned Ford Explorers since 1992. I have always regarded them as good vehicles but I am now thinking that my loyalty has been misplaced...Well, after this frustrating, and frankly, embarrassing experience, I won't buy another one. I am on this website venting because I don't know where else to turn. If anyone has any helpful guidance, I'm all ears. Do the right thing, Ford!
