problem #1

Dec 042017

Explorer Sport 3.5L V6 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,500 miles

At around 42k miles I noticed excessive noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. It sounded like the 4 wheel drive was constantly engaged and the frequency increased with speed.

I turned it in to the dealership asap as the noise was getting worse with each day.

The dealership contacted me and reported that the rear axle housing that has be replaced.

Update from Dec 24, 2017: The problem was isolated to the rear differential. I thought it was the wheel bearings. I guess I was wrong.
