Garaged kept 2016 Ford Explorer Sport. Paint on front edge of hood is bubbling up about 18 inches long. Shoddy work by Ford on how hood was made and painted. We only have around 38,000 miles on this vehicle and has always been keep clean and in the garage.

Ford knows about this issue and has issued a extended warranty but that warranty is null and void because it states the aluminum hood has to have holes all the way through it (perforated) and a Ford representative has stated he has never seen aluminum perforate, therefore they are refusing to fix the issue. A 3 year old vehicle should not be corroding making the paint bubble crack and fall off.

Again I have a 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum, but I purchased in January of 2017, so It's a 2 year car! I noticed rust spots and bubbling of the paint on the hood of my 2 year old car. They replaced the entire hood and told me they put on a 'steel' vs. the aluminum hood that came with the car which I was told would stop any future bubbling and rusting of the car. Every time I bring my car in for a fault of the vehicle under warranty it takes weeks to order parts, coordinate time on vehicle etc. The electrical and the hood were done at same time and three weeks of service.

Noticed a small spot on the roof around 17,000 miles but didn't think much of it. It progressively got worse and finally took it to the dealership where we bought it at 31,500 miles. It is a rust spot about the size of the end of your pinky but it started about the size of the end of pen so the rust is spreading. They took pictures and sent it to Ford and they approved to have the roof repainted within 24 hours at the body shop of our choice. Ford is covering all cost and supplying us with a loaner while getting repainted.

I purchased a used 2016 Ford Explorer Limited several ago and last year noticed bubbling of paint on front of the hood. I found out now that it is a mfg. problem and many other owners have same problem.
I’m trying to figure out what to do. Should I take it to dealer, body shop or sand the bad spots myself and touch it up with paint since it may happen again in another location?
