Using a pedal commander PC18 bluetooth "throttle enhancer" in an emergency vehicle equipped with a vhf mobile two-way radio. The radio transmits at 50W and is installed by a professional emergency vehicle upfitter per manufacturers instructions. When transmitting in the 156mhz range the pedal command consistently and unexpectedly causes the vehicle to begin accelerating when in drive, and increasing the RPM of the engine in park. The acceleration continues as long as the user is transmitting on the two-way radio. As soon as the transmissing ends the vehicle goes back to idle or rpms consistent with the pedal position. These symptoms go away as soon as the PC18 is removed. This issue was also experienced by other users with PC18 and radios that transmit in the mid 150mhz range.

My family and I were at a a gas station about to get on the freeway when my Ford Explorer started to stall. I pulled to the side and turned it off and back on. This action seemed to fix the problem; however, after that day (4 months ago) the Ford Explorer has been stalling every time I start it and start to pull out of my drive way. It will lose speed when I try to accelerate and will stall for the first minute or so before resuming back to normals I am now afraid to drive this vehicle with my family as it does not feel safe at all. Additionally, after stalling I will get the wrench symbol on my dash.

The accelerator becomes unresponsive and my vehicle's RPM drops, regardless if I am pressing on the gas pedal. Most notably occurs when driving on the freeway, but has happened driving within city limits. I have to press down on the gas pedal and wait for the vehicle to eventually pick up speed or shift gear to neutral to drive to be able to accelerate when pressing on gas pedal. This is a safety concern due to the vehicle going limp mode, especially on a freeway. This happens approximately 2-3 times in a 1 hour driving period. The last time this happened the vehicle wrench light when on and my vehicle was jolting when I pressed on the gas pedal. When I took it to the dealership the wrench light went away. It is currently being seen by a technician; however, the technician is having a hard time duplicating this problem. This problem is intermittent. I tried to take it to another dealership previously for the same issue, however they turned me down due to it being an intermittent issue.

With no warning - experienced sudden loss of power while driving. Engine light came on. Also the wrench light came on with a message that said "see manual." I was able to get out of traffice and pull over. After ten minutes, I restarted the car. The car started back up with no problem and the engine light was back off. From there it drove beautifully like it never happened - except that it did ! four days later, I take it to the dealorship. They determined that this happened due to a defective throttle body. I have to have it replaced and it's going to cost me $380. I find it hard to believe that with the significant number of complaints on this issue all over the internet that they didn't know about this at the dealorship when they sold me the car. And also that Ford has not recalled this yet considering the number of complaints. I have to have this fixed, I have no choice. I would definitly like to reumbersed for this repair. But in addition to the out of pocket cost, the power going out on the car while driving is a major safety issue. With the significant number of complaints on this issue with this specific vehicle model / year, I hope that somebody doesn't have to die before they place a recall on this issue.

Travelling at 70 mph my vehicle's rpms dropped to 500 - 1000, the accelerator became unresponsive, and I was forced to pull over to the side of the road. In speaking with the mechanics at the Ford dealership, the cause of the issue was a failure of the electronic throttle body (etb). My car was just over the 36,000 mile warranty, and although there was a customer satisfaction bulletin issued, my VIN number was not included. There is also an active class action law suit for the same issue in previous model years, not including 2016. I spoke directly with Ford via a phone call, who apologized and said there was nothing they could do to compensate me for the expense. There is obviously a very dangerous situation, and put my family in danger. In my opinion, Ford is not backing their products for what is a very serious safety issue.

While driving @ 50mph on a multi lane road, engine immediately went to idle and the gas pedal was inoperative. Lost all power and vehicle came to a coasting stop. Fortunately there was an exit nearby and was able to get the vehicle off the main road. Tried to restart the vehicle but no effect. Had vehicle towed to dealer and they replaced the throttle body assembly. Fortunately this did not happen during rush hour as this could have been a very dangerous situation. After searching the internet, this appears to be a systematic problem with Ford. Just wanted to go on record that I also had this problem. Vehicle has 11K miles.

While driving with children present the car suddenly lost power and my wife could not accelerate. She had to drift over to the side of the road. The "wrench" light and check engine light came on the dash. After stopping the car and restarting she was able to get home but the car has almost no acceleration and kept shuddering. Fortunately the roads were quite and there was no damage or injury. If she was on a busy road or highway it would have been very dangerous. Car has around 7000 miles on the clock.
