In the recent past both rear tie rods have broken, one at a time while being driven on dirt roads at less than 18 mph. The vehicle has less than 27,000 miles on it. When this happens the wheel turns from straight to a 45 degree angle. This so far has occurred when being driven slowly. The vehicle was purchased from don reid Ford on the state of Florida contract for light trucks - 4WD. The vehicle is driven to and from work as well as on the 196 miles of dirt roads within the St. Johns improvement district. This vehicle design was changed in 2016 to a Taurus chassis with what I believe to be all wheel drive. The vehicle has tie rods and cv axles in the front and rear. It does not appear to be suitable for part time off road use. I am concerned that while I am traveling at highway speeds to work that one of these rear tie rods will break and cause a catastrophic accident resulting in death or injury to myself.

2016 for Explorer Sport - purchased brand new. Vehicle has 15K miles now and I am hearing a loud popping / creaking sound that occurs when turning the steering wheel either left or right when the car is in motion. It's most noticeable at a slower rate of speed when turning into a parking space or turning from a complete stop. Today, on 3 separate occasions, when turning left the steering locked up and I had to jerk the steering wheel to the right in order to get the vehicle to go straight again. Each time this has happened there is another loud pop sound that can be heard. This is a major complaint across the board with 2014 - 2016 Explorer along with the wheel bearing, suspension and loss of power complaints.

Since I have purchased the vehicle in February 16 it has been back for service nurmous times, starting 2 days after delivery! major complaint has been coolent loss and burning coolant smell following with a oil leak at the same time. This is a new vehicle 10 miles on it shouldn't have these issues so I demanded a different vehicle, was refused due to demographics! well the dealer brushes everything off as all do say it's normal it happens, as time passes it goes back to the dealer for same issue they replaced a oil seal again and coolant loss and smell is normal to them, they can't find any issues, I tell them it's after long drives well each time they have it over a week. To boot they ignore my complaint about the rotten egg smell I get on acceleration! they tell me it's probably the gas I'm using, mind you this is verbal after the fact, they did not want to put it on the work order. They ordered a new steering wheel due to it peeling. I was also told that technically I am responsible for the diagnosis if they do not find anything wrong and that I had to cover the techs time, well I have to take it back in again for no coolant in the overflow foul smell coming from the vents and exaust smell in the cabin. The vehicle has 14900 mi should not have these problems espicaly costing what it did

When driving on a highway at approximately 70mph, I completely lost control of my vehicle for no known reason. I veered across 3 lanes of traffic and back across 2 more. Cars were swerving around me and miraculously I was not in an accident. I pulled over to the side of the road and other cars traveling behind me at the time did too. We couldn't see any reason why the car wasn't working properly so after catching my breath, I tried to get back on the road. I could feel my car intermittently "slipping". it felt as though it was losing traction and I was losing control and not able to steer. I ultimately pulled over and called a towtruck as I knew my vehicle was unsafe to drive. The tow truck driver saw that my rear tires were completely bald only on the inside. My car had 27,000miles on it at the time. I replaced the back 2 tires that day. And the front 2 the following day. 2 weeks later, my car was not driving properly and I brought it into a local Ford dealership for service. They performed a diagnostic. They told me my rear suspension was a mess, the uppercontrol arm needed to be replaced, the bushings on my back right wheel were lose and had a lot of play and that none of this was covered under my B2B warranty because the right rear tow link was bent and the weddings were lose. Also, the tires I put on 2 weeks ago were stripped bald on the insides again and needed tombs replaced. My car has never been in an accident. Ford recalled 75,000 explores made in 2014-15 due to faulty rear suspension from improper welding of tow links. I believe my car is a demonstration that this is still an ongoing manufacturer issue with these vehicles and I want to properly report it so that other young mothers do not have the same dangerous encounter that I had.
