Transmission cooling line leak at 26 miles. They gave me a Honda Pilot to use. Dealer re installed and tightened transmission line. Told me that I was good to go. Whereas we were planning a trip from NH to MD the following week, I decided to do a road test to make sure that everything was OK...
It happened again at approximately 52 miles on odometer. I brought it back to dealer, left the car running so that they could spot the leak. I was told to shut it off, not to mess up their driveway. Explained my needs for the Md, trip. Kept the loaner until I from MD. Picked up the car... no leaks...
And now the transmission overheat wrench started coming on along with very hard down and up shifting to the point of waking up my daughter who was sleeping in the back seat. Back to the dealer...
They said that nothing showed up on the computer... (Bull). Problem continued. I offered for someone to take the car on a long drive to see what it does more than once... Filled the gas tank, took a mileage reading, and left the car with them. They called and said that it didn't show anything on the computer, and to pick up the car. All this time my Powertrain warranty was eating up the miles. After 19 attempts to have the transmission overheat wrench problem solved and 59,000 miles, I asked the Service Mgr. to take the car on a business trip, and he did, and he experienced exactly what I had been reporting for 3 years... Transmission overheat, and very hard shifting to the point of shaking the floor when downshifting from top gear.
Finally the dealer decided to replace the transmissions lines, was told that one line was plugged, and that was not covered under the powertrain warranty... but because I was "such a good customer" by the Service Mgr., that there is a program that he could use to cover the cost. This should have been solved at 26 miles with a proper troubleshoot. Overheat has mostly gone away, hard shifting still on occasion... turning 97000 miles, and worry every time that my wife and daughter have to travel from home to Boston (400 mile round trip) for daughters medical needs.
Two things that aren't going to happen in our future... No new Cars from Berlin City, and no more Fords. Now we have a recall for the same car for a rear suspension problem that could cause loss of control. Took the car in right away after getting the notice in the mail, and, after about a month,"still waiting for parts" (Bull again)... Another thing to worry about.
