I saw the problem, took car to dealer because I was certain I wasn’t the only one with the problem. She called someone on the phone, asked how much it cost for a hood, any hood, were her exact words. Hung up, said car was not covered, even though I have a premium extended warranty. I was given the address for the Ford Claim Office in Michigan. I did call them, wrote them and have heard nothing.

Update from Mar 23, 2023: To date, have never heard from Ford Motor Company

We love our Ford Explorer but just recently we noticed paint bubbles on the edge of the hood, and they have been spreading quickly. For the 3 years that we've leased this car has been parked in an air-conditioned garage when not in use. We have not yet let our Ford dealer know about this as we are at the end of our lease and are thinking of purchasing the car. We do hope that Ford will fix this problem so we can keep the vehicle. I find it unbelievable that a car that is practically new has this problem.

Don't think a new vehicle should be rusting out in 2 1/2 years, especially when they cost as much as they do.

I had no idea that peeling paint on the hood was a well known problem of the Explorer. Couldn't believe it when I saw it on my 2.5 year old, 24k mile car. However, dealer was terrific -- quickly responded to my message, ordered a new hood and confirmed it was covered under warranty. My only concern now is whether the same thing will happen to my new hood.

Unbelievable...2017 and the paint bubbles up under the hood. Yes, Ford replaced hood but I have no faith that additional issues with paint and body will surface. Never ever will buy another Ford.
