Check engine light came on 89,000. took to dealership. Diagnostic coolant water getting into (2) cylinders. No repair possible, engine needed to be replaced. cost at dealership 8-10 k plus installation. no engines available for 8 months! Put another 2000,00 miles on it till it barely drove. felt like a bucking bronco. Found a mechanic that located a used, same engine and had that installed for 6000.00. Ford was horrible in the entire complaint process. They did not offer a dime. They had a vehicle buy back program but denied this -to many miles on the car!

At first we noticed coolant on the garage floor. We took it to the dealer to diagnose. Then we got the 2500 dollar bill for a new water pump! Which rocket scientist at Ford thought it was a good idea to place the pump inside the engine block??? I've been swearing by Ford, and driving Fords most of my life. I've been driving Ford trucks since 1978. We bought the Explorer for my wife, with just over 39,000 miles. I hate to see Ford quality go down the toilet, seriously considering a Toyota next time. Great job Ford!!!
