problem #1

Explorer XLT 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Vehicle suddenly started having a very rough idle in Drive and Reverse. Ford initially diagnosed as needing new transmission and engine mount.

Transmission and Engine mount were replaced, and problem did not get better, actually became worse and almost undriveable as off idle power was terrible and felt very laggy.

Transmission needed to be replaced. Ford was willing to cover about $2500 of the $6500 repair. But it still hurt, and is very frustrating to need a new transmission at 70k miles. Had fluid changed very 30k miles too in an effort to extend the life the of the transmission.
