The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the failure was with the torque converter. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the same information was provided. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised to contact NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
