at about 60000 miles interstate battery would go dead but not constantly. i had had it i let my mechanic have for a month, he started it up a few times a day ii between other work. 30th day it just clicked. my mech. put computer on it and is pretty sure there is a short of some kind in the instrument cluster. new cluster 700.00 plus 250.00 to install. we installed and kill switch until i can come up with the money.it sure does suck but aleast its not a 4000 transmission.

I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK TO GET MY AUTISTIC GRANDKIDS BACK AND FORTH TO ALL THEIR THERAPHYS AND IT IS VARY CONCERNING THAT I DONT HAVE MY DASH INTRUMENTS TO TELL ME HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE OR HOW FAST I AM GOING AND WWHY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO THE DASH. I NEED A FIX SO I CAN CONTINUE TO TAKE THEM TO THE THERAPISTS AND SPECIALIST SAFELY.

Gauges intermittently work. No gauges. radio, electric windows and odometer when the problem begins. There is a clicking noise coming from behind the instrument cluster. One day gauges work next day they won't.
Update from May 4, 2016: Took to an automobile electrical repair shop and I was told the instrument cluster is bad. Now here is the real kicker Ford can't keep the replacement part available as they are having this problem all across the country and for a good long time. Hey Ford when will you own up to this being a manufacturing defect and recall this part? $700 when or if the part becomes available. $45 dollar just to tell me what is wrong but cannot be fixed due to lack of part availability. FORD that is BS!!

I have a Ford Explorer Sport Trac that's got serious instrument malfunctions...temp. gauge reads 104 degrees, gas gauge is off completely till the explorer is a few miles down the road, also the MPH, and all the connected gauges are whacky off and on consistently...we never know when it is gonna read right, if we are low on gas, how fast we are going, sometimes it does a complete shut down...it's been awful...it is definately in need of a recall as does the paint issues...either the primer was defective or the paint was but the paint wants to peel off...why does a person have to pay that kinda money to support our Ford (American vehicle) when it is apparent Ford doesn't care about loyalty!!!
