I was getting off the highway after traveling approx 10 miles @ 70-80 mph. As I slowed the vehicle and moved onto the on ramp at approx 55 mph encountered a slight bump due to road surface change and my vehicle's hood suddenly released. Luckily the hood latch caught the hood and prevented it from slamming up to the windshield but it was a very unsettling moment and I am afraid that it may happen again. There was no reason the hood should have released. This could have been deadly if it had happened at a higher rate of speed where the latch could have also failed.
