After the Ford Sport Track required the transfer case replacement at 35K it then needed a computer re-set for the transmission at 66K. Just after the transmission was fixed, over $500.00, it next needed a new alternator. Seems the alternator was only generating 13.75 amps. I was told it was critical and needed to be 14.1 or better..
I had to spend another $450.00 to replace.
So far the auto has had about $6000.00 in service and only now reached 67,000 miles. I drive to the store and the distance is 150 miles round trip with no stops. Sound incredible but I live in and near the biggest wilderness area in the lower 48 with a county of 7000 sq.miles and no stop lights. I mention because the amount load on the drive change is so low Ford would not believe.
This is what we used to call a Friday car but more important the Sport Track 2007 with V-8 and 4 wheel drive should be in a class action.
PS, if the tire wear varies more than 1/32" it will waste the transfer case, reported to me by Ford, it has no neutral so buyer beware! What that means is when it's in 2 wheel drive the case is still running and uses the tires to spin all the time....different tire size and you spend $4000.00 to replace.
What a joke, must be some new design though up by someone living in the city!
Final PS....with the 4 x 4 you can only get tires from Ford with 2 ply side wall rating. I replaced the first tire a 10K then simply changed to truck tires...4 x 4 does not rate 6-10 ply tires as far as Ford is concerned...what is 4 x 4 used for anyway?????
