I think this sucks to have to pay for a new transmission at 50,000 miles. I brought it brand new and am totally disappointed that this happened to me. No other problems have come up so I am baffled as to why this all of a sudden happened. I love my truck and I would want another one but, I will check the transmission first.

Have a 2007 Sports Trac and had a major transmission failure cost $4800 to repair over a year ago. I have 2400 or 2 year warranty on the work. Since replacing the transmission, I have taken it back 3 times for slipping from 2 to 3 gear. RPM's go up to around 4000 and I let off the gas so it can Engage. Each repair they replace the torque converter and flushed the unit. Just got it back yesterday and again it's slipping. A friend that works for Ford thinks it' the mega valve.
I am so frustrated and I have no confident in the parts being install. Anyone have any ideals.

When the vehicle accelerates to 50, 60 mph the transmission slips before engaging in its proper gear. During my research this has been an inherent problem since 20001. By now this issue should have been resolved. For the Ford company to expect the consumer to pay for repairs for what is an obvious problem with this model vehicle is, or should be a crime.
Paying $21,000 for the vehicle , plus upwards to $3000 to fix a known transmission issue is not good business practice.

Ford buyer for 44years i have purchased many New fords. I am disgusted on this last purchase explorer,
It wont even go 100,000 miles with out a Transmission failure!
In addition, during the warranty period, Steering pump hose burst, Radiator developed a hole. Thermostat housing failed, Start Brake safety switch failed. Light in Radio /clock wont work.
Transmission failed 1st time at 66,000 miles at my expense.
My last Ford!

Ford had truck for 3 days. They said it was fine. Had truck back for one day, & the transmission slipped 3 times. That's when I realized it was overheating and cooling down right away. Changed the temperature sensor.

When manually shift the transmission into third gear and step on the gas the motor revs up but the vehicle doesn't move and then all the sudden the transmission kicks into gear and about yanks your head off.
