Rear sliding glass window leaking in the inside top left section. Taken to Ford dealer who in turn subcontracts out to a leak specialist. I was inform by the service desk that he inform them that I would need to replace the whole rear window at a cost estimate of a couple hundred dollars. I in turn contacted Ford Motor Company and of course my vehicle is now out of warranty. I own a 1997 Ford F-150 with 82,000 miles. I was informed by Ford Motor Co. That the dealers are franchised and what ever policy they have in place Ford co. Can't control.

The rear window frame keeps cracking and causing it to leak water inside the cab. I had it fixed 3 different times under warranty then it happened again and tipton wouldn't help me anymore so I called Ford in detroit and they said the dealer said I was abusing my Ford and that is a false statement I even offered to send them pictures of my truck and it is in great shape and only 65,000 miles it is unfounded if they just would look at my truck 'not takeing the dealers word because why would it be abuse only after the warranty ran out. The dealer never fixed the problem and if I have to go through legal manners I guess I will have to.

Purchased an extended cab pickup because I have two children. Since purchase, they have grown and when they are in the back seat, they're heads are in line with the rear window. I'm afraid that if I was struck from the rear, my daughters heads would go through the back window and suffer head and neck injuries.. I am currently trying to find an aftermarket solution to the problem. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I first discovered the leaking rear window a year ago( the truck was less than 2 yrs old) with 53000 miles and had it repaired at the dealer for $180 it is unknown how long it was like that because it was a passenger in the back seat that noticed it was leaking after a heavy rain. This new leak was discovered yesterday by me after a car wash and it was in the same location as the first one. The truck is less than 3 years old and has 84150 miles. I will report this to the dealer tomorrow 12/12/2000. The crack in the driver side door sheet metal was discovered after reading about the problem on a web site 12/11/2000 (www.Ford-trucks.com) it was listed as a common problem on 97, 98,99,2000 F150S. When I checked I discovered the crack with a little rust on it a couple inches up from the bottom window molding.

F-150 4WD

The original rear sliding glass window leaked and was replaced under warranty (less than 36000 mi.). the replacement window eventually leaked too, so it was defective also. The front brake pads wore out and scored the rotors. The repair shop indicated that they could not turn/repair the rotors because they were under specification. Further investigation indicated that the replacement rotors for this vehicle have a different thickness specification. The original rotors are either not the correct thickness or have an incorrect specification. The brakes have never seemed to perform properly. Brakes must be applied very hard and even then the vehicle does not stop very quickly.
