F-150 XLS 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 168,000 miles

Seemed expensive to fix. The total was 1100. Parts were 300. I had the truck in at 9:00 in the morning and they were done before 3:00pm, so $800 for labor. Even if they worked the whole time 9-3 = 6 hours. 800/6 = 133 $/hr.

But they made up for it sort of because 120 days later the darn thing melted down again and they did the second replacement for free. Now I need to find some way to stop the electrolysis.

F-150 XLT 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

2nd heater core that had been replaced under 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty went out. took to Ford dealership. FORD REFUSED TO LET THE DEALERSHIP WARRANTY THE WARRANTIED REPLACED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL WITHIN THE 12 MONTH, 12,000 RANGE . FOUND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT MANY MANY FORD HEATER CORES NOT TO MENTION THEIR OWN TSB ABOUT ELECTROLYSIS CAUSING THEM TO GO OUT. Will never purchase another Ford product! Should have been a recall and a permanent fix. Was told if the vehicle was newer they might replace it again.

F-150 XLT 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

3rd heater core to be put in truck in 2 years. this one was replaced with the 12 month, 12,000 mile part warranty. Found a TSB on internet concerning electolysis problem with this year model cooling system. should be grounded and other precautions taken to keep it from going out again. Don't know if the service department took care of those items or not.
