F-150 fuel tank mounting strap failure. Updated 08/01/11 the consumer stated the forward strap failed. It broke near the frame attach point. The strap was manufactured with a spot weld doubler plate where it attaches to the frame. Both straps were severely corroded. The truck is garage kept and shows no signs of corrosion elsewhere. No fuel was spilled and the straps were replaced before total support failure occurred. Updated 08/02/11

I drive a 1999 Ford F150. On August 3, 2010, I had my truck into the service center to replace a brake line. While they were replacing the brake line, they noticed that one of the straps to the gas tank has broken and the other was almost rusted through. I see that you have opening an investigation into these and I want to ensure that you have an accurate count of the problems. I had both straps replaced.
