Cable that holds spare tire up under the truck bed rusted at the bracket and spare tire fell out from under the truck, it was a good thing that truck was not going any faster as the spare could have bounced on the road and caused an accident.
- Sturgis, MI, USA
Spare tire fell out from underneath the vehicle will driving.
- Dracut, MA, USA
Spare tire fell off the truck due to failure of the stranded steel cable that secures the tire to the underside of the bed.
- Golden, CO, USA
Had a flat tire for the first time since we purchased vehicle. The spare has been in the carrier since the pick up was new, we bought from the original owner, we know them personally. The spare tire had 8 ribs cut into the tire from the carrier. The tire was in the correct position, with the correct air pressure, and tight in the carrier. The tire was worn badly enough that it is unsafe to use. There is no way to know that this has happened until you have a flat tire and have to use the spare. The tire will have to be replaced. We are going to contact Ford or a dealer and see what they will do to correct this problem.
- Cushing, OK, USA
Spare tire which is placed in rear of truck and resting on frame very tightly caused 8 grooves on sidewall of tire which cut through. Consumer felt there should be something like a piece of wood or plastic placed in between tire and frame, and did not touch tire.
- Phoenix, AZ, USA
Spare tire was bruised while mounted under the tire assembly, underneath vehicle; dealer/manufacturer were notified. Consumer installed a used mud flap between truck frame and new tire under vehicle.
