A crack was noticed on the driver's side door at the rear of the window molding. Upon inquiry with a body repair shop, they told me Ford knows about the problem and I could go to the dealer to get it repaired. The crack is rusting and may hamper the integrity of the door, especially in a side impact collision.. upon contacting Ford, they said they have no knowledge of the problem even though I have a copy of the bulletin they sent to all dealerships describing the problem.

I have a structural crack in the metal on the lower rear corner of the drivers side door. It is currently one half inch in length and growing. After doing some research and some investigation on similar Ford F150's I have found that this is not an isolated problem, but rather a fairly common one. I have also noticed that this is very issue has been brought to the attention of the ntsb. I called Ford today, and received the unsatisfactory answer that, since my warranty is expired a repair is not covered. I hope that the ntsb is looking at this matter closely and will issue a decision on it soon. I am worried that the structural integrity of my vehicle is compromised, and that the manufacturer Ford has not taken the proper steps to fix this problem. I believe that Ford and the ntsb will be to blame if I or a member of my family is injured because of a documented door failure.

I have a 2000 Ford F-150 4WD suipercab pickup. On the drivers side door, there is a crack starting in the sheet metal. It is currently located to the right of the window, under the weather stripping and is starting to proceed out. Currently it is about 3/8" to 1/4" long. There is another one that appears to be starting about an inch above it. I'm concerned that the crack will progress across the door and the door will fail. I'm not the only one with this problem. A website called www.F150online.com. there is numerous complaints (22 pages worth) that has the same problem. I went to a local Ford dealer and they said that it is off warranty and there is nothing they can do. They have no way of fixing it. Please look into this and help us fix this problem. It will eventually rot out. Thank you.

I noticed a 1/2" crack on the drivers side door, next to the power window. I also noticed alot of other complaints on this same crack. I take good care of my truck and see no reason for a stress crack like this. I feel that since there are alot of other complaints, Ford should fix this problem as a recall, especially if they are making a kit to fix this. I have been buying and driving Ford products for over 20 yrs. This was my first new F150 and I wasn't expecting a problem such as this one!!

My 2000 Ford F150 super-cab door is starting to crack, approximately 3" above the bottom of the window. My research on-line shows that many other Ford F150 from 1997-2000 are experiencing this same problem. I have been in contact with Ford customer service, who state there are no known problems of this type.

I have a 2000 F150 and I too have the famous crack on the driver's door. I talked to my selling dealer, they just wanted to put a new door on my truck at full cost to me. I thought this was real bad as this truck has very low miles. I talked to Ford customer support and they denied that there was a problem with door cracks even though I provided the tsb letter to the Ford customer support rep. I was told it was not covered under the manufactor's or extended warranty I purchased. Furthermore, I was told that I would be responsible for all charges.

I own a 2000 F150 supercab and the doors are having the popular crack next to the window above the door handle. I have a friend who owns a '97 and both of his doors are doing the same thing. If these cracks continue all the way across the door frame the door will fall apart and will provide no protection in an accident. The local body shop owner has fixed several of the '97 to '02 F150 supercabs. This is obviously a flaw in the design and/or engineering.

There are two situations: #1: multiple rear spring failures on several F150 S-cab 4WD vehicles from 1995 thru 2000 build date. The main leaf cracks at axle spring perch resulting in a puncture of bed floor on some incidents. All requiring spring replacement and recently repaired by using after market heavy duty springs on both sides. #2: multiple vehicles also experienced front fender alignment change resulting in front door forward edge binding. Not caused by front bumper or fender impact. Several occasions of severe bind resulting in door skin and forward lip damage when door was forced open to allow egress of operator. Repairs were made by realigning front fender assembly and some door hinges needed replacement due to distortion caused when door was forced open against the rear edge of offending fender. No cosmetic repairs have been done so the door forward edges and fender rear edges remain severely bent but clearance is adequate to prevent binding after repairs are done. Note: These vehicles are operated off-road and on graded gravel roads on kaho`olawe island as part of mixed fleet of vehicles in support of unexplored ordinance clearance on the former naval gunfire and bombing range. To date we have experienced no similar problems with any of the 30 or so 1985 to 1986 Chevy pick-ups used in identical manner and no vehicles were over-loaded usually carrying only one to three passengers and hand-carried gear in the bed. We suspect that severe spring wrap can occur when torque transmitted by the limited slip differential is changed from tire to tire. All vehicles are V-8 auto-transmission (gasoline fueled Ford and diesel fueled Chevy).
