This is a personal recommendation, I have 30 years experience at dealerships in the automotive industry and have seen a lot of changes, I see too many people these days driving with no headlights on at night, its because the instrument panel lights come on automatically when the engine is started. They see their instrument panel lights on so they think their headlights are on. A software update across the board of manufacturers should be made to not turn on instrument cluster lights unless parking lights or headlights are on, just like it used to be years ago

2000 Ford F-150. Consumer states wheel rims started to rust out in one year the consumer also stated the bumper rusted out in one year, and the ABS light illuminated. The brakes were inspected several times, but no problem was found. The high beams would not come on, the plastic on the outside rearview mirror fell off, the dome light in the cab wouldn't come on, and the tailgate wouldn't close, the windshield wiper washer, wipers and heating system did not work. The power steering pump leaked all the time, the gear shifter wouldn't go into park. The fuel strap failed three years ago and caused the fuel tank to fall to the ground.

I was traveling in neutral, downhill, at about 40mph through a shallow turn as I was exiting a highway. When I put the truck in 4th gear to accelerate, I had no power. The tachometer was at zero and I tried to turn on the hazard lights and begin braking, both failed to work. I had no lights or any other electrical power (it was daylight) I downshifted and turned to ease off the road, I had no power steering, then the steering wheel locked. I halted the truck with the E brake once I was slow enough and on the edge of the road. I tried to restart it several times but nothing would happen. The truck had zero electrical power. After about 15 minutes it started back up as if nothing was wrong. When I got it to john elway Ford in denver co, the mechanics said the computer didn't log any errors and there was nothing they could do. I contacted Ford and they refused to do anything. I contacted the BBB and they just reiterated Ford policy. The problem has never been fixed since no one can find the reason for it. It has happened one other time to me in 2007 (I think).

2000 Ford F-150 has a problem with the turn signal switch failing. I have replaced it once already and the problem occurred again. I have done research via internet and other people have had the same problem. New bulb replacement and fuse replacement does not remedy the problem. The multifunction switch is defective. This could result in an accident or injury.
