problem #3

F-150 6-cyl

  • Manual transmission

Electrical problems. Most significantly the truck shut off while I was driving down a road at about 50mph. Zero electrical and the power stearing was out and I had to muscle the truck to the side of the road, my wife would not have been able to do this.I waited about 15 minutes and it started. Had I been in a turn I may not have been able to turn the truck fast enough and hit oncomming cars. I took it in to john elway Ford dealership and they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it and said they could do nothing. They said there was no error code logged in the computer so nothing was done. Today, Aug 13, 2004 the truck started but the odometer was not lit but then lit when I backed out of my parking space. My wife later took the truck to the store then to a playground where it failed to start again. This is the third occurance of this and the Ford dealership said they could not find anything wrong. When I called Ford they agreed that they could not do anything if they could not recreate the problem. I also have an occasional grinding from 2nd to 3rd gear that I have taken it in for several times only to be told sorry we cant recreate the problem. My main concern is losing electrical power while driving. If this happens to my pregnante wife I am very concerned that she could get into a bad accident.

F-150 6-cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 40,000 miles
The standard transmission grinds going into third all the time and going into first sometimes. This has been going on since 40,000 miles. After many trips to the dealer, I finally found out that this is a common problem and they would do nothing for me. I love the truck, but hate the transmission.
