I repaired a tire that had a nail within an inch or less distance to the sidewall. I let my service/shop manager know about the situation and he told me to do the repair anyway, which I did. The tire repair failed and the tire ended up going flat. All I know is they had me break it down for inspection but the patch did seem to be on the surface properly. There are no posters on how to do the tire repair properly nor are there any methods of double checking the repair after the tire was complete. I do what us asked of me and follow the procedures of the shop but I feel they were insufficient in providing proper procedure in tire repair and verification processes.

The contact owns a 2004 F150 with Goodyear Wrangler tires, line size LP265/70/R17. The contact stated that the tires were purchased as a replacement. While driving 60 mph and applying the brakes for a traffic stop, the drivers side tire went flat. The tire was replaced with a spare. The following day the contact noticed that the rear passenger tire was also flat. The contact discovered that the side walls were wearing, causing them to go flat prematurely. The manufacturer was contacted and informed him that the warranty was expired and they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

I was just driving and felt a vibration and have spent a lot of money trying to figure the problem out and no one knows why it is vibrating. I have had my tires road forced and check. I have had an alignment. I have had my crankshaft checked. I have had the tires balanced. I saw a bulletin on valves and that seems to be the closest to my situation I have the information on the valves and will be happy to share that with you. I have spent a lot of money at the dealer and independent shops even a transmission shop and no one can figure it out. I would like to have this 1-2 year problem solved. The front end has been replaced and check as well.

Driving up to intersection, applied breaks next thing aware of was the cab was smokey and airbag had deployed and vehicle was stopped against a tree in the ditch. No knowledge of tire failure, pothole, or anything leading to a deployment of the airbag. Concern with unnecessary deployment of airbag verses steering/breaking/tire problem. The air bag knocked me unconscious and I was unable to do anything to avoid the extensive damage that occurred to the truck.

Tire started to seperate on interstate driving. Roaring, vibration. We stopped and replace tire with spare immediately. Tire has been taken to four goodrich dealers in athens area, and we were informed each time by all that they would not honor any warranty even though it was original equipment with less than 10,000 miles on vehicle at time of incidient. They all said it was a Ford problem. Ford road hazzard service contacted 8/15/00 with report, and they promised in August to have purchasing dealer call us to replace the tire. Following up with original purchase dealer service center in commerce, was informed by shop manager they knew nothing about a claim, they would not resolve or replace tire, it was a goodrich tire issue to replace it. Called Ford consumer line again, given promise that someone would call us back, still waiting on that call. Called goodrich, corporate consumer line, and was told a goodrich dealer, any that we could drive to, would replace the tire. Upon driving around athens, ga. With tire and vehicle last week, no goodrich dealer was willing to call goodrich corporate to see if they could get a replacement and authorization for same. All goodrich dealers have told us to call Ford to replace a new tire under warranty if vehicle is stillunder warranty. We still do not have a tire. We have been told by Ford consumer line, by road hazard hotline, now that goodrich tires are not part of any recall and they will not replace any tire for free even though the Ford warranty, and orig equipment booklet in new vehichle glovebox states they are liable for warranty replacement on a new vehicle with original equipment tires. Ford now states that it is a goodrich issue. (tiresize: 23570R16)( dot number: Tire size: 23570R16 )
