F-150 6-cyl

  • 75,000 miles
For the third time I am having to take my 2000 Ford F150 in to have the heater core replaced the first two times I took it into the dealership to determine the problem. Each previous time ended with the heater core being replaced. Each time the issue is preceded by fluid leaking onto the street and into the cab. As it drips into the cab it gives off a pungent smell. The first time the heater core was replaced I paid 800 dollars for the work. The second time I took it in, I was informed that the issue was a common one but the warranty would cover the work for the heater core replacement at that time. I was told however that if I needed another core it would not fall under the warrantied work.

I own a 2000 Ford F-150 and yesterday the heater core starting leaking. This truck has been serviced according to the manual. I only have 64000 miles on it. I have contacted several repair shops and was told that Ford has had problems with the core failing and that they had a recall on it. I contacted several Ford dealerships in my area and was told there was no recalls on this problem. I have had estimates of from $600 to $800 to fix the problem. I am going to get it fixed but I would like to know if there was a recall on this problem "????" this part should not have failed this soon.
