The contact owns a 2001 Ford F150. The contact stated that the driver side seat belt disengaged without warning. The dealer stated that the seat belt assembly failed and that the recall repair under NHTSA campaign id number 00V348000 (seat belts:front:retractor) had already been performed. The failure mileage was 17,000 and current mileage was 30,000. Updated 1/02/08. Updated 12/12/07 updated 03/10/08. The consumer was informed the seat belt was out of warranty, but the consumer could pay for it at his own expense.

My wife and I were visting my parents when we were heading home. We started the vehicle and while putting the vehicle into drive the air bags deployed. The seat beats locked up. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. Insurance will not cover this and Ford Motor Company will not repair cover this.

Consumer noticed that both passenger and driver front seat belts were inoperative. Both seat belts locked while driving at normal speed and failed to retract after usage. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic replaced seat belts and retractor. However, the problem recurred.
