F-150 XLT 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 96,000 miles

Experienced problems down shifting and upshifting in heavy traffic. Engine finally stalled , check engine light came on. Had code checked - "Torque Converter Sensor Switch ". Also the lock out button on gear shift lever was flashing "OFF". Took to Trans shop said switch intermittently locks up torque converter when going bad. Trans shop removed pan, filter, and valve body to replace Sensor Switch. Unusual amount of metal in pan. Shop replaced switch and filter. Temporary fix with metal in pan metal is still in system therfore just a matter of time before transmission quites. Trans shop gave me 2 to 6 months. Lasted about 3 months transmission started doing something totally different like trying to get out of gear running 50 - 60 mph. Had to overhaul transmission./
