Windows in F-150 our failing. Cable just snaps and they fall quickly into door. Three out of four windows have fallen in my truck. The first occurred during a down pour. This was quite a surprise and I was fortunate that I was not driving down the interstate when this occurred. The third and last occurrence occurred just last week while on a business trip. Two of the three incidents were extremely distracting, one occurred while parked. Based on my conversations with the dealer, search results on the internet, and my own experience I'm concerned anyone with a child that removes their restraints while in motion might encounter the same issue. One of my windows in the back was broken but did not drop down until it was touched by a co-worker, and dropped very fast. Thank goodness this did not happened by a child who unrestrained themselves while moving.

Sitting in a parking lot window rolled up and all of a sudden hear a loud pop like a rock being thrown at the window. Passanger side rear window slowly starts to slide down into the door by itself. Doesn't go back up.

Within a one year span of time I have had two window regulators/motors break on my 2004 F-150 extended cab. The truck only has 59,000 miles on it and I have heard of many others having this same problem with this model and year. There are no outside factors affecting this problem, it is a manufacturing issue. Both times I just simply went to roll down my window, heard a pop and then my window began to slide down. I had to use cardboard to keep it from falling all the way into the door. Both times the regulator and motor had to be repaired.

2004 F-150 FX4 - drivers side window fall down due to cable - repaired under warranty. Rear passenger and rear drivers side windows fell down within a week apart due to cable coming off tracks, or rollers. Notified Ford Motor Company of this problem and I was advised to take it to a local dealer to see if it could be a malfunction. Dealers charge to diagnose generally and I should not have to pay for something that is not my fault, as they are rarely used, especially at the price they charge. I noticed a lot of complaints to Ford for this same problem. Please look into this, or is this a clunker they want you to trade for a new clunker.

No crashes just incidents of window failure on F-150. All window regulators have had to be replaced due to poor workmanship. It is an obvious Ford defect that needs to be addressed. The actual part in question is a small plastic piece, but the repair runs on average $400 per window for replacement of entire system even though regulator works fine.

I drive a 2004 Ford F-150 super crew the window regulators keep failing. It has happened to all 4 doors in my truck more than once. I have had Ford replace 2 of them and due to the high cost I am repairing them the best I can now. The incidents started March of 2007 (just when the warranty is up), what happens is that you will be driving along and roll down the window. A loud noise will occur and the window falls to the bottom of the door. The problem with the window regulators is that the cable system does not stay in place. I know that many other people are having the same trouble with this, so please get Ford to recall this problem before someone or something is injured. There was no injuries or other mishaps due to these failures you could call these near misses. These failures could cause injuries or damage to other cars on the roads. Thank you for your time.

2004 Ford F150 I have had three window regulators replaced and now the forth one has broken. First two were covered under warranty and the third wasn't. this is ridiculous and should have a recall on it. Of course Ford wont cover it under warranty.

2004 Ford F-150 super crew has had 3 window regulators fail since 2008. The most recent was on 9/2/09. The others were in April of 2008. In each instance, the vehicle was parked in a commuter parking lot when we arrived to see that the window(s) were down and would not roll up. We are fortunate that this has happened when we are not actually driving the vehicle. This could be a very serious safety issue if the window were to drop while driving in bad weather with a small child in the vehicle. Ford needs to recall this item and fix it for free. It is a very expensive repair at the dealer. Our particular truck has just under 45,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the two rear windows and drivers side front glass separated from the windows frame. Exposed fragments of glass increases the risk of serious injury. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a technician replaced the window regulators at an expense of $713. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage is 65,000.

On three separate occasions in the past year and a half the window regulators in my 2004 Ford F-150 truck have broken. Each time the part broke without warning while I was driving. The window just suddenly slams down into the frame of the door, and can no longer be returned to the "up" position. I am certain the last of my four windows will soon break as well. My daughter was driving my 2004 F150 when she heard a 'pop' type noise, then the driver side window fell down into the door. This is an extreme safety hazard as it is completely startling and can cause an accident. Fortunately she was driving in the city at reduced speed when it occurred and no accident occurred. It did scare her as it was totally unexpected. She called and told me about it so I called my mechanic. His known repair history for the F150 indicates that the noise and the sudden window dropping is that of the window regulator breaking in the door. Apparently this has been an ongoing problem and Ford has undergone 3 revisions, or is on their 3rd model of that window regulator and this is a danger to all who drive when this occurs and quite possibly a danger to other vehicles on the road due to a possible accident occurring.. this product must be recalled due to faulty design as no window should do this. I want Ford motor to replace both my window regulators, B/C if it has happened to one, it will probably soon happen to the other. And when my mechanic says the track record to repair this will cost a person $250 - 400, that is completely unacceptable.

3 of the 4 window regulators on the Ford F150 truck have gone out in the past 2 months. Each time it costs about $350 to replace the part. As the failures occur, you can hear a grinding sound as the switch is activated, followed by a cascade of broken pieces falling down inside the door somewhere. Then the window goes neither up nor down. If you check some of the auto forums, this is a frequent complaint for the 2004 model. By the time it is all done, it will cost me $1200 or more. The parts are obviously defective!!!!!! Ford should make good on this problem.

There is a problem with Ford F150 window regulator cables. They are under pressure, fail and snap with an extremely loud bang. The one on my driver's side front door window failed on 07/17/08 at 23,446 miles when I was going down the road at about 35 mph. The noise was so loud I thought someone shot my door, causing me jump and swerve in my lane. The one on my front passenger's side window door failed on 08/24/09 at 30,779 miles going down the freeway at 70 mph. Internet research reveals that this is occurring to many people. This piece is obviously defective and the problem should be remedied by Ford before someone gets hurt.
